Turboes scion>? yipee
hey, getting a turbo kit soon, and was just wondering if i run a risk exploding the engine......i realize the more psi the more possibilty of trouble, but i got a deal, and was wondering if i run the kit at like 5 psi or lower as a daily driver, will i dmamage anything?? id get a clutch along with the kit and stuff also................let me know, if i put a turbo on , nomatter what does that make it a risk?...................let me know..................thanks all .......

one of the main reasons factory turbo cars don't last as long as they should is the absence of a turbo timer cuz most peeps wont sit around letting the car idle for a few minutes after driving and will run the car hard just to immediately shut er down thus burning oil and ruining seals.

Well to be honest with you, I think you won't do much harm to the xB. Buttt........... I know when people get a turbo they tend get on it from the get-go. Break everything in, and then get buck wilded. Thats what I think.

Go with the supercharger if you're only going for a daily driver, you'll get much better response in low to midrange torque, and have better reliability in the long run.

I would read this page and think about the risks you're willing to assume:

This is what these guys do and the experience they have had with our engine.

It responds to boost quite nicely with a properly sized turbo. But its downfalls are the internals and its engine management.
Lets touch on the internals. First and foremost are the rods. Although quite strong for their size, they are designed for normal aspiration only. A half point higher in compression is about all they can handle daily without failure. Once boost is added to the equation, it becomes Russian roulette as to when they will let loose. You may last eight months with 50,000 miles or blow it the first pass down the street; there are no warning signs.

These engines have the crankshaft offset 12mm to the thrust side of the cylinder bore centerline. This reduces the side force generated at maximum compression, for reduced friction and improved fuel economy. Toyota calculates the offset crankshaft configuration reduces fuel consumption by between one and three percent. Unfortunately, this throws the angle of the rod way out on its upward travel causing the rod to just give up under boost and snap. If there is any detonation or pre-ignition this breakage will occur at an accelerated rate.

You are much better off getting the GReddy JDM kit -- this kit is NOT reliable at all... and their customer service is horrible. But, I suggest talking to EL Prototypes honestly.
You never read about this kit in my posts?!? I've wrote things up before about this kit, its GARBAGE! The turbo seals went bad in 2 weeks, and the turbo is IN warranty but TSI avoids me... I've had it since August, when they still said it was for the xB.
Anyhow, LISTEN to me. DON'T BUY IT.
