Default VSC, TRAC Off, Check Engine lights..

These lights have come up and have been on my dash for about 3 months. I have tried to clear theme and they keep coming back.
Can anyone please help me with what i need to do to get rid of them for good?

Thanks,

Do you have a cold air intake? Have you tried searching on ScionLife?

Just have it scanned. You need to know the fault code.

Mike, I'm interested in what you find. Mine had the same lights some up this morning. VSC, trac off, and check engine.

The manual does not say much. VSC and trac off are related...when VSC comes on, trac off also comes on. I'm baffled as to what that has to do with check engine. The manual just says take it to your scion dealer. Yeah, right...

I'm used to dealing with automotive repairs. Usually check engine refers to some kind of problem with engine sensors or emissions equipment. I don't know how that's related to vehicle stabilty control. I suppose the VSC system can automatically throttle back the engine when it detects an unstable driving condition. Perhaps that's it.

Mine is a 2006 automatic. Almost 50k miles. Bone stock. No mods at all.

I'm sure other owners have experienced this exact problem. Hopefully there will be some easy answers. If not, I'll dig into it more.

Not really good news, my friend. Here is a thread where owners discuss a similar problem. I didn't read through all of it yet, but it seems their fix was timing gear replacement. That requires removing the cam shaft. Fun.

At my mileage, I should probably go ahead and replace the timing belt while im in there...

Well, the lights were still on yesterday when I left work. I did a little grocery shopping and when I came back out to the car, no lights. No lights this morning either...

Still there Mike?

Well, anyway, my lights have not come back on yet. It's been over a week...good luck!

I have had that problem on my Gen1 and it turns out that it is from over filling the tank. You only have to do it once. There is a charcoal canister as part of the emission system. It get full of gas and will throw the errors. If you have the codes checked, you should get 3-5 codes and a couple of them are duplicate (so actually 3). The only way to fix the problem is to replace the whole filler canister assembly. Once that is done, stop filling your tank when it clicks off. This will cost about $300+ for the dealer to fix the problem. I was stupid. I did it 3 times before the dealer told me they wouldn't get it covered the next time.
