At what RPM does the VVT-i kick in? I suc at searching!
If you can fit the 1.8L Matrix XRS motor in, then be my guest. Got to remember. This was a Japanese car to start. Least they gave us the 1.5L instead of the 1.3L that is offered in Japan. Hell some Toyotas only have a 660cc motor. How about that?
"it just adjust the intake camshaft via oil pressure and computer sensors. making the duration long or shorter by rotating the cam shaft."
Not quite. the duration, the number of degrees of rotation that the valves stay open, doesn't change, but the timing of the fixed duration cycle is altered by as much as 60 degrees, iirc...
There are engines that control both the timing and duration, but not in an xB...

over all its still fewer moving parts than v-tec system. more or less accomplishes the same prinicipal of effect. allowing for more power at top end and more torque in the bottom end. it also saves on some gas effiency as well.
