Default Whats The Best Performance Part

The XB doesnt have a lot of horsepower so whats the best thing to add onto it to give it that little extra oomph you might need?

Turbo or Supercharger. I/H/E are some other options most people do that want a little more power.

^^^ all joking aside, I agree.

For a LITTLE increase in power, look into the bolt-ons (I/H/E), maybe shed a few pounds off the car (and yourself...lol), a lightened flywheel, lightweight (NOT underdriven) pulley.

Just don't look into unrealistic/harmful mods like the fuse thing they sell on eBay, the "tornado", etc).

Too much addition in power and you will need to start replacing clutches.

Skip the engine SRI. If you want that intake, save the money and get the YDR. If you want to spend the money on an intake I would recommend the Fujita F5. Better design, higher quality parts, and more for your money.

All in all, they all net you about the same horsepower gain.

If you don't save up for forced induction, I would buy my upgrades in this order...

Intake
Exhaust
Header
Lightweight Pulley
Performance Clutch
Lightweight Flywheel
ZPI Pistons and Head Package (Once Available)

Just keep in mind, by the time you have spent that much, you could pretty much buy yourself some sort of F/I.

That's a fantastic list for anyone regardless of F/I, N/A, or N0S driven. The order is well put and a gain seen at each step.

with my echo, the biggest power increase came from my exhaust header.

and it was just a cheap $25 DC-S header.

Im pretty much done with this list in my car and the power gains are pretty nice. Your not modding a V8, so dont expect miracles, but with these few selective parts you will be procbably spending about $2000, but at least you WILL have a reliable everyday driver. Unless you go the F/I route and in that case your going to have to buy a computer and ALL the hardware neccsary to build a RELIABLE F/I scion. Anybody could strap a turbo to your car, but what happens when you turn it on, and floor it?!?!? Without proper tuning and without a computer that can be properly tuned, i wouldnt go the F/I route, to many problems for just 150WHP. Id prefer to just maybe acheive 130-140 WHP N/A and be able to use my car everyday without a problem, but then again im probably going stand-alone.

Default Performance Part for 5spds

The xb has plenty of power comming from a very
sophisticated engine for its price. The problem is
getting the power to the ground. I just replaced the
clutch in my Echo at 140,000 miles. I had Toyota put
in a Clutchmasters FX 100 made for the xa/xb. No
increase in pedal pressure, no fitament problems but a
different car otherwise. At a red light, next to an Infinity-
green shows. I give my car 200 more revs than normal,
let the clutch out and it grabs immediately. I'm ahead
already, second gear and more pulling, still ahead, you
get the point. Now I can't outrun a car with 240hp but
with this clutch you can push any other car a long way.
Its also easy for me to make the tires break away when
I'm pushing the car thru a corner..just have to be careful.
My only regret was not putting in a Clutchmasters FX 300
which has 110% more clamping pressure over stock and
a sintered kelvar clutch disc. The FX 100 pressure plate
has 70% more clamping pressure over stock. I'm very happy
with this set up. Should have done it long ago. Worth everything
I paid and working extra jobs to save up the cash. My cars stock
save a short shifter. I hope you don't have an automatic LOL.

what CAN you do with an auto anyway? stick has so many more goodies lol light weight this...light weight that

i love my auto though, ive given a few stick cars & trucks a good run a few times just goofin around, the I/H/E does combine well enough to make a difference...i cant wait to try heads & pistons from ZPI someday
