wire tucking
Working on this, just scouting it out before I lenghten anything. The clear rubber cap that covers some of the wires from the coil pack, it appears they are just tied off together and I can take the cap off and lenghten them. anyone see this differently than i do?
Pictures please. For the 1gen xB, we don't have a coil pack. It's a coil over spark plug design. The wiring leading into the individual coils is standard wiring. There is not much room for slack in it, i would suggest leaving the main harness alone unless you're prepared to completely rewire it.
Make sure to use sealed splices in the engine bay as well. I use uninsulated splices followed by silicone sealant on the ends with shrink tubing over it. The normal pre-insulated will corrode over time and could cause headaches down the road.
thanks. I just have the spark plugs left, then the rest is cleanup. the other harness will be done later. only about 25 of the 60 wires coming from the firewall had to be cut. the rest were moved from their original mounting points. The cutting of the 25 made it so i could untangle and re-route the others though. I was just real careful to cut only what needed to be cut,.
I'm really digging the absence of the giant loom in front of my engine now.

well, finished the last of the wires, it started up and everything is good.
tomorrow I am going to be doing the final wrap of the wires in some electrical tape, then ordering my loom to keep the wires safe from heat. I'm also going with some mesh hose covering or something dress up all the black hoses.
the two fuse boxes will be moved later, most likely they will go where the window washer fluid resivoir was.

Some random brackets...

The Merge of these wires is really giving me heartache, I cant get it perfect. I've shortened a few, and lenghtened one, just trying to get them to lay in a good circle, and not tug on the plug boots too much. Still working on it, another day or so of random poking ought to do it.

Keep in mind, the tuck of the fuse boxes is still on the back burner, that seems like ti wil make the most difference, but im really diggin the lack of the harness in front of my pretty manifold and valve cover.
