Default xA K&N CAI installed today! 3 days 3 mods

Day 1 Wednesday:
TRD Quickshifter
https://www.scionlife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=74030

Day 2 Thursday:
Mikochu uber-grounding-system
https://www.scionlife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=74194

Day 3 Friday:
K&N CAI

hey all! i just got my K&N cai in the mail today, and installed it in under an hour. very very easy installation! the directions that were included were incredibly straightforward, and i didnt even have to remove the battery.

what was nice is i had a great chance to break it in and really get a feel for the difference, because immediately after the installation i drove 2.5 hrs north to see my girlfriend for the weekend (where i am now). the difference in sound is just stunning to me. the growl through second/third gear is incredible. it really turns a lot of heads, cause it just sounds so damn mean, clean, and powerful! its silent when cruising on the highway at any speed (i was cruising anywhere from 55mph to 100 :D) and it seems to growl most around the 3.2-4.0K rpm range when i get on it hard in any gear.

as far as performance goes, it completely got rid of the choked feeling when shifting hard between gears, it just pulls from the second i gun it. having the quickshifter and grounding system only enhance this feeling, i just feel a lot more in control of when my car simply "goes"

i have the "dry-charger" thingy or whatever they call it on there now... i guess i plan on keeping it on there to extend the life of the filter at probably minimal performance cost. maybe if i take the car to the track i will remove it, but its such a pain to get in there that i wont be messing with it much at all.

i highly recommend this intake, i am a 100% satisfied customer!

ps pics will be up on tuesday of the progress for the past 3 days...

I just threw in a K&N CAI into my xA a few days ago myself!! the thing rules, and it sounds like ***** when you mash it, easiest thing ever to install too, very well worth the money!! I also don't have fog lamps, and the way K&N designed it sits right in front on the fog lamp port. So I tok out the fog lamp cover for some direct air hotness. It's gonna rain hard here I think soon, cause it was at my friends house in hemet, so fearing the worst I'll put on the dry charger and will probably pop the cover back if it does. Next up either a JIC, RS*R, or Blitz exhaust then finishing it off with a DC header...or alphawerks.

sciongarage.com, they're the best, they always send my crap in earlier than expected, i've ordered both tiems from them. Tein S-techs, and my K&N...and had basic ground shipping which is usually two weeks, and I get them in in less than that. It's awesome. Good Selection too

for me, they are perfect. they are noticeably shorter, and it has a very nice "notch-like" feel to it when shifting into any gear. even my girlfriend who doesnt know much about cars noticed, its a lot tighter and much more fun to drive.

it probably doesnt yield as short of a throw as the twm, but honestly i wouldnt want to trade the feel of the trd for anything. not to mention it doesnt change the position of the shift **** down a lot, so your arms not going to feel like its reaching down for the shifter whatsoever (it keeps the shifter at the same height, but raises the fulcrum of rotation of the shifter).

Hey jwa... it looks like everywhere I turn you have a new mod to your RS1. I'm soooo jealous. But you keep up the good work. Your xA is turning out hot.

I still haven't gotten springs yet... (ack!) I'm waiting for this contest.

Anywho, just wondering why your chose K&N over Injen. Any power gains, fuel efficiency, etc.?

Keep it up!!!

i heard that the k&n had a better design for the xA's as compared to the injen... and the breather hose is after the MAF sensor, so you are sure that your maf wont get screwed up for any reason.

the design is very very straight and im sure that it gets damn near optimal for the xA!

heres a picture i took today of the intake:

and thanks for the compliment on my car! here are a few new pictures of that from today!

thanks a lot man! and its my pleasure. i always try to be helpful to others in the community (with my previous car [a 92 camry v6 5spd] i was very active on the toyotanation.com boards) and i understand how hard it is to choose between mods sometimes. always great to buy with confidence!

Nice looking xA. Is it lowered? I'd leave it the way it is if it's not.

thanks! yeah i have tein s-techs on there right now, and eventually i will buy either koni's or the trd shocks/struts to complement... as well as the other suspension basics like front strut tower and rear sway bar.

got a good lookin' xB yourself!

Koni makes shocks/struts for the xA? That's hot. Also, I've been doing alot of asking and looking around scionlife and I've been told numerous times that a front strut tower bar will do NOTHING but look cool, due to the fact that the strut towers are so close to the firewall that it's rigid as is. Now a rear sway bar, I've heard that it's a great buy. Gives the car a totally neutral handling feeling. Which....is hot. Just my two cents, don't let me stop you!

thanks for the info... i still might get that red megan racing front strut tower cause its cheap and it should look good once i start to apply the red to the engine bay... also planning on getting red wire loom and red radiator hoses, dress that **** up ya know?

as far as the rear sway, i am definitely getting that for sure... on my previous car it was by far the most effective handling mod.
