OK so if I go with headers also:
Strup - good choice - looks better ?
DC Sports - good choice - ceramic coated ?
Both perform about the same ? Plus or minus with either or ? Fitment on both OK ? Gasket's come with either or ?
Should I keep his exhaust and headers the same brand ?
Exhaust:
I thought about Magnaflow and have a local shop do piping, but I want it here for Xmas AM - just the little kid thats still in me (DAD) hee hee.
Anyone have any thoughts about Magnaflows catback? I may be able to get this one for about $355.
Anyway exhaust:
Strup version 2 - good choice - about $285 OK?
Espelir Jgt500r - good choice ? Found on Ebay for $317.99 shipped - is this one
too loud without silencer and too quiet with ?
DC Sports????
Precisionmuffler.com's catback ? Different for manual or auto ?
Best sound looks etc....?
Springs:
Looks like Tanabe DF210's may be the right choice for a 2" drop ??? Right ?
Will there be any other problems I may have to deal, putting on Tanabe DF210's? Rubbing ? Alignment ? Camber ? etc... beside the stock shocks going away sooner than normal ?
Tires will be 215-35-18'S ? wheels have a +40 offset I think.
Sorry for all of these question's - I am an old hot rodder and new to all of this tuner? type stuff.
Thanks again for the help.

Dc sport header is definitely a very wise choice. Performance is excellent and fitment is 100% perfect. Strup also has a nice set up. Personally, i would pick Dc Sport since they have been in the game of header(s), performance and so on for a while now. Strup has been around for a while, but, DC sport has proven they know what they are doing to me even prior to the scion. Either/or is really fine, very similar power gains.
Espelir Jgt500r is a great choice if you want your son to be able to have a clean looking exhaust, yet at the same time bragging rights among fellow tuners. This is exhaust system is fairly hard to come by, and is definitely worth picking it up. The silencer deal is much like it is with the Jic, and any other mufflers really. Without it, its not that loud at all. Gives it a low sound, with a little aggression in the notes. With i/h/e, atleast with the Jic, it can get loud especially on the interstate. But its not an annoying pitch, deep-to-mild (no rasp, absolutely no high pitches) and very aggressive.
All the silencer does, is keep the exhaust toned down. Almost everyone i know takes their silencers out, including myself if that makes you feel better about it.
Good luck, and keep us posted!!

I have this exhaust on my xB. Without the silencer, it's loud as F. With the silencer in, it's much more reasonable, with a hint of an exhaust note when you accelerate. It's just a tad louder than stock... but without that damn silencer installed, it's loud... at least in the cab.... Performance wise and fit/finish wise, I like my Espelir... but the sound.... louuuuuud.
Is this your first car with an aftermarket exhaust? Because its really not that loud, add a header and it will be loud, but because the pitch isn't annoying its not bad at all. Just wondering, you should post pictures of your espelir so he can see how it looks on the box.

eh, maybe im just getting old.... lol
The resonating hummmm inside of the cab is more than I want to deal with.... but like I said, maybe I'm just gettin old... at 20, I'd love to set alarms off... now... it's just not that important to me....
Maybe the interior noise is giving me the illusion that it is loud outside..... /shrug.

haha, well its going to be loud outside if its loud in the cab. However, inside the box you can hear a lot of noise from the road, motor and exhaust with mods. So, it may seem a lot louder inside than what it actually is. I'm used to it so i rarely notice it. Occasionally when my mom rides with me some where, she says its loud and hear ears pop if i go up to 3k or more. But, she also hears extremely well (better than most) and shes definitely not used to it. She drives a 98' camry v6, very, very quite. So, it just depends on who you are.
You still should post pictures of your exhaust. I'd like to see it, i've only seen one picture of the system on an xb. It was a good shot, but id like to see different angles.

HEE HEE ! Yes I am the DAD posting under the ID I created for my son. (is this OK?)
I don't think he even knows about Scionlife yet..... He is to busy working and playing drums in his band.
I will let him know after Xmas, as to not let him see my posts and find out what he is getting for his box for Xmas.
Sorry for any confusion and thanks to all who helped with my parts choices.

What did you decide on the parts? I'd love to see a picture of his box currently if you can get away with taking some without him knowing it. I'd also like to know what parts you came up with for him. Always fun watching others as their project starts to take form. Let us know!

Hi again, and thanks for all of the suggestions.
What I have so far - will all of this fit under a Xmas tree ?
YDR Intake
Factory Billet Grille (3 piece)
18" HDR Spinout wheels
215-35-18 Toyo FZ4's
MMW Header 4-2-1
Tanabe DF210s
Had a local shop do a Magnaflow oval - dual walled angle tip -axle back exhaust. Put stock back on until Xmas to keep the suprise factor - Hee Hee.
I think this is everything - all hidden away till Xmas!
Yes I may have gone a little overboard, but this may be our last Xmas with him living at home and I like having a father and son project, anyway.
I know everyone has different opinions, but... did I make any bad choices ? Please let me know.
I will post some pics with all installed after Xmas.
Happy Holidays,
Casey's Dad
Oops forgot: Had his front door windows tinted also - early gift.

Only downfall: You should have bought the billet grilles from me, i have the same ones you bought in great condition. Would have sold them to you for a good price. Oh well.
Post pictures once everything is installed, i'm sure he will enjoy everything. He should, your helping him out a lot.

Well Xmas day we installed everything but the coils and we just did them this AM. Casey is very happy with everything the way it turned out, looks wise and performance wise.
Here are some pictures, if I do this right:
Grille was done first before Xmas, along with front window tint.

Xmas morning:

MMW 4-2-1 header underneath heatsheild - he may take the shield off but for now, he knows it is there.

Next was the YDR intake:

Next we installed the local shop made Magnaflow dual wall tip axleback exhaust - sounds great - not too loud yet you can tell it has aftermarket exhaust - nice low growl.

Then we put on his wheels and tires-18" HDR Spinout wheels & 215-35-18 Toyo FZ4's. This is before the Tanabe DF210s.

Before coils front:

Before coils rear:

After coils front:

After coils rear:

This is all before driving or any future settling:

A shot of the back: LOSING IT ? What is that you say ? hee hee That is the name of Casey's band. That decal is actually shiny silver and looks good on the car.

Casey playing: These all fit in his box too!

This won't fit in the box though. - darn! Well, he gave this up anyway and I am glad - drumming is much safer.

Well - I hope that wasn't too many pictures??? Anyway, let us know what you think.
Any pro's and/or con's are OK - we can take it. hee hee
Thanks again for all who helped on this forum with my choices for his xmas gift's.
HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL!
