from what I could tell it looked like the whole bottom end let go. There was metal all over the track. Viet said that he broke a rod. There was fluids everywhere. It hurt to watch.

He was running the Blitz SC with a 30 shot of NOS. Came out of the hole like crazy then it looked like he sprayed it getting into the beginning of second gear and thats when it let go.

Maybe Viet will post up and let us know what he experienced during the run.

Default OUCH!

How many runs did Viet get with his blitz s/c and 30 shot of nitrous before he kicked a rod. Was he running a wet system or dry? Those x/b rods are forged but pretty wimpy. Iam waiting for my crower billet steel pro I beam rods and wiseco forged pistons and aem plug & play emu before I spray my motor with a 50- 75 shot.

It was a Zex wet kit. It was his first run. Hes run before but his belt used to slip a lot and with a new belt on I guess it was just too much power. His box will be back shortly.

with all my mods, i put down 180whp. ive ran the car many times with this set up but my belt was always slipping so i never got full power. Justin (blown xA) put a new belt on for me saturday night and my car ran perfectly saturday night and sunday. i guess the car couldnt handle that much power. i'll build the motor one day. not now tho, i just gotta get the car running asap. Justin will take my motor out on sunday and drop the new one in next sunday. you can follow my progress here....

Default What happened?

Was he running slicks or drag radials? I wonder if he blew up because the stock rods couldn't take it or did he lean out his motor with his tune up? VIET_BOX did you spin off the line then get out of the gas then back on the gas?

i guess the car just couldnt handle that much power. i tired staying safe and running less nitrous than justin but we basically had the same set up but i had a full catback exhaust and flywheel. guess that ended up giving me more power than justin. Lustine scion and Ptuning put their money together to get me another engine.

i have drag radials. my car was running rich with the camcon settings. I barly spun off the line, drag radials helped out a lot.

quite a few times but always had belt problems. just taking off right there, i think that was the best launch i ever had and my car felt real good. justin said if i finished that pass i might have got in the 13's. i had my 15" spinner hub caps on too for good luck.

Default Time to upgrade

So if you put another stock motor back in isn't the same thing going to happen again.
If you want to upgrade your rods crower is making me a set of billet steel pro I beams.
Race Engineering is ordering 5 sets so four sets will be ready for sale in a few weeks.

I think your ready to move up and upgrade your rods, might as well do the pistons and move up to forged one's. I ordered mine from Import performance parts with the engine kit. :D

how much did everything cost? i'll eventually upgrade my internals but i just cant afford it right now. Im not going to be running nitrous again till i build the motor or unless my belt is slipping.

Default Price

The engine kit( comes with all the gaskets) with the forged wiseco pistons is 969.00 and the crower billet pro I beam rods are 760.00
If you just buy the pistons I think their around 550.00 a set.

Viet Box, I don't know if you are aware, or have already purchased a motor, but search on http://www.car-part.com. You might be able to pick up a motor cheap enough that the money you would have spent elsewhere can start to be put aside for rods and pistons.

Also, make sure you post up the failed parts if you tear down the old motor.

I'm lucky enough to have my sponsors Ptuning and Lustine Scion buy me the engine. I cant thank them enough for what they do for me!

Damn Viet, that sucks. But in a way, this is a good thing. We are slowly figuring out the breaking point of these motors.
