Default Can PE be intercooled?

Can this charger be intercooled?? I found an intercooler 12x12x4 that can sit on top of the engine and will get air from a scoop on the hood. All that will have to be changes is the tube that goes from the charger to the throttlebody, or cut into that tube to put the intercooler inbetween. Im not sure if something like that will work. What do you think?
Sorry didn’t know who else to ask.
Thanks for any replies.

yea, you can add an intercooler but you would hafta do some custom piping like you said

Kool, i was looking at the charger installed and i noticed that its grabbing air from the rear of the engine...where the header is the which would be hot air, unless this charger can cool down air really good to help it, i think an intercooler should be awesome, even though the intercooler i saw is small 12x12x4 i think it should still cool the air a good bit maybe even have a good increase in power.
This sounds like a good project for sum1 with this kit hahahaha

You can if you want to do the piping, but dont expect any significant gains or improvements. Boost is low and the supercharger wont get as hot as a turbo would.

I am interested in this too. But like rollhard said, the boost will be lower because you will loose pressure between the in and outlet of the intercooler.

You can also do water (methanol) injection. This will also lower the intake charge. But it doesn't effect the boost pressure.

I am actually looking into a front mount and reclock the charger, if possible. And any ways to higher the boost pressure.

you dont want to go too high on boost. i have a buddy on here he had the PE on his xB and got it to 10 PSI with just a header swap. it uped the boost on it 3-4 pounds. but 10 psi IMO is a little much for the motor

loss of boost because of added volume of plumbing and i/c. Might need a new tune because of denser air.

How'd that happen? Boost on any s/c is directly related to pulley diameter, not engine restriction or exhaust flow.

Agreed. You don't "gain boost" by swapping out a header. A pulley, yes. A header, no.

beyond me. but his numbers showed that happen. maybe less restriction made the charger throw more air in there. this is just what i heard. it isnt my blower. lol

matt. thats dave with the white xB from winston salem. he posted in this section a lot.

All an intercooler will really do is allow you to run a higher boost without as much risk of detonation as you would at the same psi without the intercooler. As mentioned before, you will lose some pressure through the piping and the intercooler itself, so you would have to bump up the boost just to make up for that, but WITH the intercooler, you should technically be able to go even higher.

Just don't make the mistake of going TOO big with the intercooler. I see cars with the whole front bumber openings filled with an intercooler and they are running a T-25 on a 1.6L...Overkill in my opinion! LOL

That 12X12 may be about right, but there are a lot of mathematical formulas for acheiving the 'perfect' size and what boost to run at with the IC.

Matchbox had well more then just headers so im assuming that he uped the boost himself with his camcon or something
