Installing a turbo system on my toaster. got a used kit for a good deal.
Still new to the turbo scene, problem im having is where to hook the Wastegate to, I think it needs push rather than suck to actuate? the turbo appears to have no ports to make the wastegate open....

wut do i do?

You can remove the compressor housing, drill and tap a new port on one of the flat spots on the housing for the actuator or tap after the throttle body.

Hey thanks for the info Pal.
I think i will tap into the intake manifold after the T/B like u have said, i need a port for a boost gauge too, and blow off valve.... a local fellow says hook the wastegate to the BOV so when the gate opens it also dumps the BOV, but that doesnt sound right to me.
THANKS

Default wastegate hookup

Drill a hole in the flat spot right by the discharge on turbo. Your boost source for wastegate should be at turbo not in intake. You should have no more than two things running off of a single line if you run it off the intake.

Seeing as how the turbo is already installed, rather than remove it and drill/tap for wastegate hookup, would removing the intake tube that bolts to the turbo to weld in a bung work ok? it would be only acouple inches up from the 2 blank boss' that can be seen on the turbo in the picture I posted. it would take only a couple minutes to unbolt rather than a couple hours to get the turbo out...
should the intake manifold be tapped for BOV and Boost/Vaccum Gauge right close to the T/B or is anywhere in the manifold sufficient??

Thanks Again for the Tech Help!!!

is this just some pieced together custom kit? you should do it right and take the time to drill and tap the fitting to the turbo itself.

I got the parts from a friend who took them off his xb, he wanted a stock setup for day to day driveability and economy. Plus his family uses the car so turbo was not a best choice.
I know that drill/tap direct to turbo is the best way, but i want to know if there is any other options 1st. But thanks for the opinion/information CinderB.

i guess you could just tap the charge pipe itself near where it bolts to the turbo, but youll have to unhook it if you undo the pipping, and im not sure on this, but the Wg response might be a lil slower, but i doubt it if you keep it close. im no turbo guru but ill try my best lol

I've been into performance stuff for a while now, usually offroad trucks and v8's.....its funny how u feel like u know about sumthing untill u actually go and do it, hands on in your face is the way to learn and that indeed i am. i can have the charge pipe off, drilled, bung welded in and installed/hooked back up in like 20 minutes, which beets 4+ hours of removing and modding/installing the turbo!
Thanks again for the help CinderB

Default wastegate source

You will be fine if you put the line on the charge pipe. You just want to get it close to the turbo as possible.
