Greddy Supercharger Oil
 

Does anyone know what oil should be used in the Greddy s/c for the 1st gen xb? Or an interval at when to change? I've emailed Greddy and haven't gotten anything back...TIA

The blower is sealed, so it should be ok for the life of the vehicle. Just FYI, Greddy uses an Eaton / Magnuson MP45 blower for their kit, you may have better luck asking Magnuson. The Greddy US offices are just sales, the tech support there is useless.

On Magnuson's site, they say this:

Call them for how and what to use for the nose oil.

If you mean what to use in the engine, anything 5W30, though I prefer synthetic oil to dino oil, personal preference is Mobil 1 for price.

Thanks, I'm not too worried about it now just wondering for future maintenance. I'm already running Mobil 1 5W-30 for engine and Royal Purple Max Gear for tranny. Through 1st/2nd no issues, nearing the end of third 150-155 kph (90-95mph) @ about 5800-6000 RPM My engine light flashed two/three times (i'm thinking indicating a misfire). I immediately let off and had no issues after, but drove normally. Has anyone had problems using stock injectors causing a lean misfire (what i'm thinking)?? I'm using one step colder plugs which are brand new so I can't see them being the problem. Car has 86,000 KM on it. Any thoughts?

Yes, the Greddy s/c will run lean on the upper RPM band on stock injectors, almost exactly as you described it, above 5800 RPM. Here's my dyno running the Greddy s/c before upgrading to tC injectors. For reference, without the s/c it was making about 86 HP at the wheels, so about a 30 HP gain.

Did you have to tune it once you replaced injectors? I've been told that 1ZZ injectors will work, but not 100% if tuning will be required or not. It even set P0302 yesterday...cyl #2 misfire.
Also, did you dyno again after the upgraded injectors? I would have to think there would be a bit of a gain?

I finally got a hold of magnuson...and got to the bottom of this oil business...You need 120ml (1 bottle) of GM supercharger oil sold at any dealer. I could get the part # but it's the same kind they use in 3.8L S/C and all the other ones. It's like $5. Interval is 80,000 miles.

p.s. Trying to contact Greddy is useless. Don't bother.

How do you change it?

Well, If it isn't installed in the car you can just pull the plug from the supercharger housing and tilt it on end to drain it all out. If it's installed, i think you can unbolt the front portion (I think it's 8 bolts, you can see four in this pic) and the oil will drain out. You will then have to reseal/reinstall it and add the oil through the fill hole. I'm not 100% but I think that will work. To make sure you could contact Magnuson. I wish I changed it before I installed, but no biggie.

good info on the GM s/c oil...

I have 1ZZ injectors on my tool box @ work, haven't bothered to put them in. Watching with wideband it's 10.5-11.0 and no misfire issues anymore. All I did was clean the MAF and checked the gap on all plugs (0.32). Once I get my new intake on I'm going to see what the readings do. I'll post the part # tomorrow.
