Homemade Blower....???
I got to thinking....maybe not a good thing, you tell me....he's what I thought up.
I really want a turbo kit, but I dont have the money, so I have an idea.
Please dont laugh until you read the whole thing....
I have a leafblower that I was thinking of hooking up to a seperate tube that would connect to my intake before the MAF, I was going to run a power convertor and a dash switch and flick that baby on at high rpms, do you think it would work?

I was thinking the same thing BoogieQ.
The only thing "Hotbox420" has proven to me on this forum is that he is a complete tool.

well what could be a "better" alternative is finding a nice sized turbo, maybe with a internal wastgate, weld uip a turbo manifold and plumbing and wallah. you have a home built turob forr less than a kit would cost. i think of it like this
You really dont need a huge front mount intercooler for a 1.5. get a intercooler from a VW 1.8 and place it near the fog light area so it can stay in a breeze.
Turbo size is depending on how your going to plumb it into the intake. i was keeping an eye on the Volvo S80 turbo. yes i know its a twin turbo but all i need is one. its very compact and then all you need is a fabricator to make you a manifold.
do a little turbo research. all you need to run a daily driver is no more then 8 pounds on ths 1.5 any higher your looking toward more upgrades, fuel pump, injectors, etc etc. in some cases a small intercooler or even a top mount would be suffecent for you.

even cheaper...rig a rubber tube to your intake and route it through the firewall into the cab coming out of the dash. your cheeks might start to hurt but i'm sure you could blow a few psi into there. your name is hotbox420 so you gotta be used to utilizing the lungs anyways

In all honesty, because everyone has thought of this at some point, if you had a leaf blower that could flow over 150CFM of air, it would generate boost. With how small this motor is, it would probably work. Though, you would be making a huge electrical draw from the alternator.
You would have to run some good power lines from the battery to the onboard inverter and have a very high watt inverter to run a leafblower with enough gusto to build boost.
Is it worth it, not in the least. Would it be fun for laughs, sure. An inverter to run it and the blower to blow it, would cost a good deal of $$ anyway.
Next time you feel the need to call someone's real attempt at actually supercharging these cars 'Ghetto', don't turn around and post something this weak. ok?

its like a thousand dollar leaf blower, but itll push about 20 psi, i would have got this but the unknown and my new hp dv6000 laptop kept me from it.
