change "tuning community" to

"car show community" and i'll agree.

ask any real scion rep. the scion label was aimed at "urban youth" which has NOTHING to do with tuning in any way shape or form.

i mean, the accessories available to the xA/B "from the dealer" was pitiful.. even compared to say.. the ECHO, or go back 15 years, see what TRD made for the MR2.

so to say scion was the first.. is a spurious statement. if this were true how did all the "performance" cars appear from other manufacturers? pure accident?

Actually, 1991 was the 1st year Toyota used VVT-I, and that is around the same time Honda used V-tec on their cars... Honda did use V-Tec on their motorcycles in the '80s though.

In practice, a fully variable valve timing engine is difficult to design and implement. ( Toyota VVT-I is fully Variable, is changes the cam timing throughout the whole RPM range)

The opposite approach to variable timing is to produce a camshaft which is better suited to high RPM operation. This approach means that the vehicle will run very poorly at low RPM (where most automobiles spend much of their time) and much better at high RPM. ( Honda) the rsult of an effort to marry high RPM performance with low RPM stability.
Honda pushed the round rock down a hill, Toyota created the wheel LOL

So Honda V-tec is a primative way to change cam timing, Toyota had their crap together and Honda didnt.

I have high TQ.. Low Hp.. ( when my torque peaks, my HP starts to fall off, and TQ numbers peak higher, which is good) now to get the two to meet..hmm

I'm running the 1nz at 1bar(14.5PSI) with forged internals and strengthend block at 9.0 compression. So far so good.

Previously on 10.5 CR, may experience misfiring...

not exactly sounds like it was a street/chase car for the tC.
reading some of the posts and it was street tuned at first while driving to and from ewvents. still a whole lot of bang for the box

Actually it is a daily driver.. Leslie drives it to and from work every day. Its the only car we have at home to get around in. Still has the built motor and turbo running 9 psi.
