bringing back an old thread... does anyone happen to have a picture of the rewired emanage? I finally have enough money to buy one, but before i buy one, Id like a visual of what i would be doing.... thanks a bunch
Anyone ever try or think of using an 03-05 ECU in an 06 so that you wouldn't have to rewire anything? Also, could you just cut off the connector of the 03-05 ecu and splice that into an 06 so that the Greddy piggyback would be plug and play?
The connectors are the same, thew 04-05 piggyback will plug into the 06 ECU, it's just not wired right. Swapping ECU's won't work either because then the sensor inputs won't be going to the right ECU pins. The only way to do it is rewire, either by hand or by buying the boomslang.
Well, if you rewire the harness Greddy provides it's essentially the same thing as the Boomslang one, so you can still go back to stock. I would STRONGLY advise against any cutting of factory wiring.
Wow, bringing back a dead thread! LOL, just kidding. I'm happy to help. I dug up my old Greddy install manual. Double-check that it's the same kit, but I think it is. I've never used this file host, so let me know if it worked fine. Good luck!
Thanks for the reply.
but the clown that I bought the S/C off ebay from cancelled the order because his account was on hold. Then wanted me to shoot him another $50 to another paypal account until I received my refund.
Hey there, Saw this thread as I was doing some additional research before I start this build. I intend to start my own build thread but wanted to capture any expertise from those who've done this before. Here's what I have accumulated in parts before I started. I was lucky enough to get this new kit direct from GReddy at their old stock garage sale in March 2025.
I'm thinking of doing this in 3 stages. Stage 1: is the bolt-on installation as the GRreddy Supercharger MP45 Kit came. Stage 2: DW injectors, DW Fuel Pump, E-Manage Blue programming, Stage 3: E85 conversion.
Would love to get any real world advice on their experience doing Stage 1 to start.
I'm so jelly! I bought an '06 in Feb of 2023 and have been searching for another Greddy SC kit since then. Good luck with the install. Looks like you've got more than the standard kit (injectors, fuel pump, gauges and such). Way more than I had as I just did the standard Greddy bolt-on kit which only replaced the intake side of the motor and had the e-manage piggy back. Its been 20 years since I did this and can't offer any particular advice, but I wrench an awful lot now and I'm willing to help however I can. Two things stick out for me:
At the time, I didn't have impact wrenches, and I'm not sure they're safe for the supercharger pulley drive shaft anyway. If while affixing the pulley to the shaft, you choose to grip the pulley with something like large mouthed adjustable pliers, do protect the pulley grooves with something durable to prevent damage.
Also, I wound up putting the e-manage in the glove-box after cutting a small rectangle out of the bottom of glove-box to run the cabling. I didn't check at the time, but there might be room under the dash or even bolting it to firewall/floorboard with a homemade cover plate. You're just limited by length of the provided bridge cables.
I do have good stop-light memories of a few confused sports car drivers at the time as it really made the car unexpectedly quick off the line. A V6 mustang and NA Supra come to particularly. Probably 7 seconds to 60 at the time, which was pretty good for a notoriously slow car. You should do better with the improved fuel management and corn. I hope to hear more! Good luck!
Edit: I forgot to mention con-rods. The stock 1NZ-FE con-rods are pretty weak and made of low quality material. Might want to consider upgrading those as you exceed 30% gains over stock. There's a great build series on Speedhunters that kinda fell off: https://www.speedhunters.com/2018/09...uilding-boost/
Thanks Shawn. This is great info to start. That Speedhunters page confirmed what I thought would be needed if I went higher boost for sure. The E85 conversion was derived to help with detonation as boost was increased BUT the bottom end upgrades is definitely the safer way to go.
