Default *Help*Scion Xa Security System/with Keyless Entry

i just got my aftermarket head unit and OEM Xa Security System/with Keyless Entry installed yesterday.. everything was great but the remote only works with key in the ignition & head unit on... (only unlock panic works while the head unit and key is in ignition/ lock doesn't work since the key is in ignition) i tryed with key in the ignition with head unit off but remote didn't work... does anyone know how i can fix this or what went wrong?

Your wiring is FUBAR. I think you have more than one wire tapped wrong here.

Sounds to me like the head unit was wired up incorrectly and is disrupting power to your security system. I've installed an xA security system before and its all plug and play so I don't see how that could have been installed wrong. So my guess is that its the head unit thats messing everything up(or the wiring of the head unit).

Sorry I cant be of more help, never heard of this kind of problem before. Try printing this PDF (http://installdr.com/Harnesses/Toyota-Wiring.pdf) and give it to your friend at the shop, he'll be able to look at that and tell if something is wired wrong with the head unit. On a side note, there is a chance that you might have gotten a faulty security system, but this is unlikely.

Did you chop off the factory harness for the headunit? or use one that will plug in?

I think it sounds like the constant for the alarm is connected an accessory (switched) lead. If it only works with the H/U on them it might even be connect to the remote. How that could have happened I have no idea but I'm not the one who installed it.

Here is a link to the instructions:

http://trdsparks.com/install/08586-52970inst.pdf

If it doesn't open copy the link, open Acrobat Reader go to file, click open and paste the link into the "File Name" section. The only reason I'm telling you this is because it didn't open for me.
