2004 xA keyless remote
Greetings! I'm a newbie desperate for help. I recently acquired my daughter's '04 xA to use as a daily commuter. We bought it used (repo) in '08 WITHOUT a remote. Another thread indicates keyless remotes for the 1st gen xA were dealer installed options only, so perhaps I'm barking up the wrong tree here. But there's more...
Following readily available programming instructions for the xA, it clearly sounds like it's entering the programming mode. Question #1: If the car is making all the right noises for programming (doors locking/unlocking in response to key/door steps), does this mean I have the option installed?
Looking at another thread, I found two options for determining the correct FCC ID. One was to ask the stealership, the other was to find it on the control unit behind the glove box. So I pulled the control unit, stamped "Toyota VIP Security System", but there's no sign of an FCC ID.
Doing a quick search, it appears FCC ID HYQ12BBX and BAB237131-056 are the two choices. Being the proud owner of three other Toyotas, I tried two different remotes I had available. One was the HYQ12BBX, and just for giggles I tried the HYQ12BAN from my wife's '04 4Runner. The xA wouldn't accept either one.
Question #2: Should I take my chances and just order the BAB237131-056, or is there some way to accurately determine if using a remote is even an option?
Please don't make me call or go to the stealership!

Hi, I'm also in need of some help with my 2006 xb. My key less wouldn't work and there's no FCC ID written on it, I've tried behind the glove box as suggested with no results and I have no manuals that came with my car. I saw some key less on eBay but not sure which one will work, since they all require that I confirm the FCC ID? Is there another way of determining the FCC ID?
I just bought this 2004 xa 2 days ago and it did not come with any remote. I used have a 2005 xa before and it came with 2 keyless entry remotes. Please let me know if you find something. I also have 3 other toyotas with remotes and one other scion tc with remote. But I have no idea where to begin. What is the id that you are talking about and where do I find it?
Thank you!
Thank you!
