Forgive the tl;dr. I like to be as detailed as possible.

I've had my Scion since 2008. I bought it used, with very light wear on the car itself. When I purchased it, the car itself did not come with the ipod interface cable. It still had a majority of the OEM parts (the only things the previous owner swapped out were the gas pedals and the rims). I stubbornly stuck with using the AUX port of my ipod during the five years I spent living in the frozen north. Of course, that's no longer a possibility since the AUX port on my iPod is now fried after years of use. The harddrive and USB interface are fine, however.

So, this is where the issue factors in. I got my hands on an ipod interface cable, OEM, for cheap. It's in great condition. I plugged my ipod in, and it recognized it, and started reading the music from it. However... No sound came out. All of the data was there on the radio's display in regard to the track I'd selected, but the stereo produced no audio. I unplugged the cable and examined it to see if there was an issue, and the cable was fine.

I checked the interface port just to be safe and I noticed that the prongs that hook up to the female end of the cable were a few too short. Specifically, on the bottom half of the cord where there are normally 6 prongs (three on each end), there were only three – two on one end, and one on the other. I naturally assumed at that point that the previous owner likely damaged the port before selling it to the dealer, and the dealer overlooked it when they were readying the car to be sold.

Now, I'm the type of guy who would rather fix a small problem when it occurs. Is it possible to replace the port? I haven't found anything through Google, but I figured it might be possible, since it's just a simple connector. .. Or at least it appears to be.

So is this fixable, or am I boned?
