Default 2006 XA unlock problem (Viper 791 alarm)

Recently installed alarm on 2006 XA.

Unlock does not work 100% of the time. When i installed it and tested it for the customer to see, it works fine.

I get a call later saying the unlock doesnt work during remote start. Then customer says unlock doesnt work at all now.

Customer comes next day, i test the unlock and it works fine. (using the DEI wiring diagram for the Scion)

So i assume everything works. Then when customer leaves, a few hours later, i get a call saying unlock doesnt work.

Before customer comes back, i would like to figure out why it doesnt work for him, but does for me.

Anyone else get this problem?

Nope. Its on an xB though. When remote start is on, unlock/lock both work fine.
I have some sticking unlock/lock buttons everyonce in awhile..but its nothing hitting it harder doesnt solve.

The unlock function needs a double pulse. You can either program the unit for double or tap into the unlock wire from the pass side which only needs a single.

I am gonna agree with skyonXa and say that you just have to set the viper unit to do a double pulse.

It is on double pulse. I wouldnt do something as silly as to forget that.

Anyone done this car and NOT have this problem? (question to installers only)

Ive done a bunch of xBs and several xAs and never had a problem with the locks. Check your ground and make sure you are using relays for the lock, not just two wires straight off the brain of the alarm.

Locks work 100% of the time.
Unlock works about 30%.

What color unlock wire are you using for the XA? Im using blue/yellow, unlock (what my diagram says to use)

I couldnt test it because it was showing ground all the time for sump reason.

Also, are you a scion alarm installer, or aftermarket installer? Im aftermarket, and i havent encountered this problem on any car before.

Aftermarket. Ive used DEI stuff for years. I think Ive used the blue/yellow wire. Are you using relays or a 451m to power the lock wires or are you just using the small blue and green wires off of the alarm? Those small wires only have 200ma of current which isnt enough to trigger the locks sometimes.

I still think its a bad ground.

u shouldnt need a relay for the locks using the viper 791 unit. It has built in relays for the locking systems unless they are 5-wire locking systems, which they are not.

I am also using the blue/yelllow for unlock. Changed to double pulse. Not using 451m.

It works sometimes, like when i test it before returning the car, but the customer says it doesnt work all the time.

Hey, when you are testing it, putting red side of DMM to 12v, and Black side to the wire, its showing ground all the time. Same problem?

i dont have a problem with my xb, and i have that same alarm, but you should not be grounded all the time, i would say you need to try another wire or go thru the door boot straight to the lock switch. good luck.
