Aftermarket Headunits
Hey what's up everyone.
I bought my tC about a month ago and I'm about to get started on some mods. I wanted to switch out the audio first but I just had a quick question. I know on some new cars, they sometimes run alot of stuff through the factory HU. I'm just wondering if I'm going to lose any options by switching it out. I've seen a bunch of posts from people showing off their new HU and haven't seen anything bout this, so I would guess that means nothing is ran through it.
All replies are helpful. Thanks.

the f-ing brackets don't fit no matter what i did. i couldnt install my 7700 securely with screws and have it line up correctly. ended up using duct tape to hold the black box onto the headunit.
now, personally, i wouldnt pay circuit city to install it even though i know the installation was a pain in the ___. but thats because i'm cheap.
ps, i got the pioneer 7700 on ebay for like 150 or 160. pm me for a link

You have a double din HU space, it would be a crying shame to replace your double din pioneer, with a single din pioneer thats going to do the exact same thing!!! Doesnt that sound crazy. Look, dont spend money just to spend money. Cause if you get this deck, thats what your doing. Dont waste your money, for 2 reasons:
1.You can get a better deal on a deck from almost anywhere ONLINE.
2. Replace the stock HU which one that'll do more that it. (like play dvds)
Save your money and invest it in something really cool, like a double din DVD player w/ LCD screen HU like Eclipse or a Valor or a Kenwood. Or for example the one on car domain from Jensen. If you save up about 500 bucks your gonna get something 1000 times cooler, and its gonna make that pioneer look like an a-trac player.

wtf is everyone making this such a big deal for. Buy a Metra install kit off ebay and install it yourself. You can probably find the same head unit that circuit city is selling for a hundred less on ebay. My head unit install took at most and hour.

I was told at my scion dealership that if i installed a new HU, i would no longer have iPod capabilities. In the 06 tC's, has anyone changed the HU and still been able to use the iPod hook up in the center console? that's basically the only reason i'm keeping the stock HU.
wow thanks for changing the idea of my thread.
1: i kno u can find stuff cheaper on ebay, but the last deck i had i got off of ebay and it came slightly damaged. seller wouldnt fix it and pioneer wouldnt fix it. therefor id rather buy from a shop
2: basically i have no desire to install a HU myself. for the hundred id save from buying online and installing myself, i get free install and like a year insurance through C.C.
3: all i wanted to know was if options were powered through the deck. a few people said there wasnt any problems. thats all i needed, thank you.
