this morning i went to my box and to my surprise it did not start, in fact it was completely dead. i checked the dome light, the headlight switch and anything else i could find. no nothing was left on. so i tried bump starting it, no luck, probably couldnt get enough speed. so i tried jumper cables from another vehicle, no luck. i called AAA, they came out and jumped it with there big ___ truck. i drove about a mile to the local dealership, pulled into the service area and told them what happened. as we talked we tried stopping and starting the car to see if anything would happen. no problems. he surmised and i thought that i had accidentally left something on so i figured i had better drive around and charge up the battery rather than being without my baby. so tonight i go to a restaraunt, go in to eat dinner and when i come out to get in my car the headlights are on. i open her up get in sitdown and when i put my key in the lights go off, if i had spent any serious time in there im sure it would have been dead. i started it up and when i was driving out of the parking lot it kinda hiccuped, bucked a little twice in the parking lot and once on the way home. im going to go out a little bit later tonight to see if my headlight are on again. anybody else have this problem, or any explanations????????????????

 

from your subject I'm guessing that you have an alarm? not that it would be a suspect as of yet. I would check the battery terminals first to make sure thay are tight. once your battery goes dead (lead acid batteries, not gell cells or deep cycles) your battery will only be 80% as good as a new battery. goes dead again you drop another 20%. at this point 1) get a new battery, 2) check battery terminals for corrosion and make sure they are tight, 3) have a trusted mechanic check to make sure your alternator is working properly, and 4) have teh mechanic check to see if there is a possible drain on the system, he can check current draw at the battery.

as for your headlights being on and the switch off, did you have any work done lately to the vehicle?
