Default Alpine CDA-9835 installed *PICS*

The kit fits perfectly and the colors match up just as well. You can match the color of the faceplate with any color imagineable. Plus, the BioLite display makes it incredibly easy to read the electronic text in the daytime.

EDIT: I use the cable inside the cubby hole to connect my 20gb iRiver.

Nice headunit! I used to have an Alpine 9815 in my old acura and I loved it! Good choice.

You know, i'm not positive. I think it's only the higher-end models.

Yea the 4 main buttons can be color matched to 256 colors. The little buttons can be red or green. I think all the newer models are like this...

I have the 9835 also from my maxima. I am selling it though (only 4 months old, mint condition) and getting the avic-d1.

Do you happen to know which User Defined color number you used? I get a little tired cycling trough all the numbers.

Nice choice on the 9835 - I also have it in my tC. However, I went a little bit different route on the installation:

I have a piece of gloss black lexan holding the unit to the stock mounting brackets. At night, it looks like the piece is floating in mid air.

The Kit is the Metra Kit 99-8209. It says it's made for the xB or xA but obviously it fits fine in the tC. You can order it on that site or go to any Circuit City and they can order you one, only takes 1-2 weeks.

edit: durr i forgot to put the site, http://www.audiooutfitter.com/store/99-8209.html

hey i have the alpine 9833 head unit .. works pretty nicely .. i have a creative labs 20 gig jukebox hooked up thru the cd changer control (a converter) ... and it works great ... i have the chord routed thru the center console on the right side about where the e-brake is ... i love not havin to fool with cds in my car .. ever .. (except for the one mp3 cd that is usually in the player with stuff i listen to all the time... 17 or so folders of rock) ... its also cool that the door closes over the radio .. so i dont have to remove the faceplate ...

All 3 of your installation look nice.
I have a Kenwood KDC-mp425 head unit.
i was looking up on crutchfield.com. it said i need a toyota wire harness. But Etronic.com said i don't need it.

Should I listen to crutchfield and get their wire harness?

You need a harness for a hassle free installation. You could install it without one, but you would have to tap into each wire behind the dash, and without a wiring diagram, it would be hella hard.

Just buy the harness, its not that much and will save headaches in the long run.
