Default Alpine head unit work with Ipod plugs?

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1138087659007

Hi everybody! It says this guy will work with steering wheel controls which is cool but I'm not sure if the iPod will work, I know I will have to get the adapter kit but I still want to use the aux and ipod plug on my center area. Is there a way to do this?

Dunno how much help I'll be but here goes.

I have the the Alpine CD Head Unit CDA-9857. It's one of their newest if not newest models out. It came with the IPOD connection cable already so I don't know if the Aux. connection port still works, though I would doubt it. and I asked about the steering wheel controls since my cd player is "steering wheel ready" and apparently that just means you CAN hook it up to the steering wheel, but you'll have to drop another 100 for their little connection kit.

Hope that helps.

I have the same head unit. To properly use all of your i-pod functions you will need to use the Alpine cable - mine is in the glove box. I had the install guy wire up the aux input so it would still work, but it won't control all of the i-pod functions, more for a DVD player or other then i-pod mp3. Hope this helps. By the way, killer head unit - I like mine!

Forgot to mention, they had to do an add on device on mine to make the steering wheel controls function -- added almost $200 to the cost - ouch!

I think the only aftermarket head units that are directly compatible with the steering wheel controls are Eclipse stuff.

See if Crutchfield has it. They have a chat feature so you can ask all the questions you'd like.
