Default Alpine Type-R or Kicker CompCVRs?

Hello, My 10" L7 Solo-Baric blew out on my yesterday so it is now time for new subs. I have a sealed dual 10" enclosure on hand. I'm gonna power the new subs using my Audiobahn amp that puts out 200w x2 at 2ohm. So I'm looking to buy two subs that each have dual 4-ohm voice coils. Right now, I'm deciding between the Alpine 10" Type-Rs and the Kicker 10" CompCVRs. Which set of subs at 200w is gonna give me the hardest thump? Thanks for any help!

I would honestly say neither of those subs, both are great subs, but your amp will under power those subs and you take the chance of blowing them also. If I had to choose, I would say the Kickers, they require a little less power then the Type R's.

Two of the voice coil wires ripped off right from the core of the sub. Now, I'm GREAT at soldering, etc. and was able to reconnect one of the wires but the other one broke off right at the end and theres no slack to resolder it, or enough room to get the smallest of fingers in there. No chance of warranty either since its a couple years old now so now I must find some new subs to put. BTW, has anyone here heard of OZ Audio subs? I've heard good things about them. Any advice on two 10" subs that will work well with 200w is welcome!

The L7-2 requires 650W RMS at 2Ohm. The CompVR 2ohm require 250-300w RMS at 2 ohms

Ok, so now I've narrowed me choices down to this: Either replace my Single 10" L7 running 400w RMS for $200 or slap in two CompCVRs at 200w RMS each for a total of $200. Which of these will give me more bass? (I'm looking for SPL) Thanks for any advice!

Really? I was thinking more the L7 since I've had the beast for some time and know its capabilities, but if you say two CVRs will beat the L7 then I'm gonna be looking forward to hearing some CVRs soon!

Both subs are great, I have heard the CVR's beat down real hard before, but that was in a slot ported tuned box from Kicker. But they will still be very loud.

Two CVRs will match a L5 with the right power. Take it from me, I used to listen to them side by side every day for at least 6 months. BUT they REQUIRE 250-300w RMS to function properly.

I'm coming from an L7, so would that mean that 2 10" CVRs at 200RMS each will not match my 10" L7 with 400w?

a 10" L7 should have 650-750 watts on it...

Underpowering a sub WON'T blow it!!! BUT, having an amp that isn't powerful enough for the sub makes you want to get everything you can out of it... many people will turn up the gain more than they should causing a clipped signal which WILL blow a sub...

Ok now I see... My gains are never above half way, but the sub itself was a 2002 model that I got from a friend with a popped voice coil that I had to repair. So your saying that 400w would be better spent on two CVRs rather than an L7, thus producing more bass. I would like to upgrade the amp to something bigger, but I don't want to risk burning out my alternator with too much stuff. I plan on putting in an inverter for an Xbox, and a 4 channel amp for some new door component speakers. With all that on the electrical system, I don't wanna push it with a higher wattage amp for the sub... Thanks a lot for the help!

the higher output voltage you have from your RCA's / HU, the lower your gain needs to be set... if you have 8v pre-outs (Eclipse HU's), your gain should be set very low, if you have 2v pre-outs (lower end Alpines) your gains for the same output should be set higher...

I would look into these 2 options. They're both 200Watts RMS.
