Default Alpine work with xB iPod connector?

I searched the threads and didn't find what I was looking for so I'll ask here. Does anyone know if the Alpine HU will work with the xB iPod connector? I upgraded to the iPod indash Scion stereo but I'm not that happy with it. If the Alpine will connect with the dealer installed iPod dock I will be a happy camper. Any answers would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not really sure about how the Xb Aux hooks to the stock HU, but if you got the right alpine deck you can get an ipod adapter for it, which controls ALL of the functions of the ipod, right on the deck so that you can just put the ipod in the glove box or whatever. If the Xb Aux is just a set of RCA's, Alpine also sells just an aux in that hooks up through AI-NET, but then you have no control over the ipod on the deck, you would have to actually switch the song via the Ipod.

Hope that helps, let me know if you have any other alpine related questions, i'm an installer at a local shop here in alaska.

Thanks for the info. My current set up has the dealer installed iPod connector in the center console which allows me to control the iPod with the head unit. It also has the mini plug jack so that I can connect the iPod (or any other audio device with this connector) and control it via the iPod unit itself. I guess I'll have to pull it out and see if the connector cable with the factory unit will connect the same as the aftermarket unit. I don't want to replace the Scion dock for the iPod since it's so easy to use and allows me to hide the unit in the center console.

Alpine also makes a box that connects to any Alpine deck with CD Changer controls. This box works like the standard Scion outlet in the way that you plug your iPod in and it plays through the stereo but you control it on the iPod. The advantage to this is it also charges your iPod.

Best Buy stocks this adaptor for $99.99.

since the stock HU is pioneer i dont *think* the alpine will fit.

on a similar topic does anyone know if an alpine 9851 HU will work with the steering wheel controls for the stereo i already have this unit and don't want to have to pay another 400 for one that works or go with the stock HU

I ended up answering my own question by installing my sister's Alpine head unit. She got the iPod connector unit and it has different leads on it. Won't work with the Scion stereo. Bummed,
