Default Amp Mounting

I plan on putting my amp under my passenger seat, along with a 1 farad capacitor and I was wondering how are you "bolting down" the amp, to keep it from moving around down there?
Pics would be great...thanks...

I do not have pics, (don't have my stuff in yet, still building my subbox) but you can use screws to attach the amp to the floor of the car, just be sure to check under the car for anything you may hit, then turn around and check again! once you have it screwed down, go under the car with some silicon and seal up the area where the screws came through.

If you just place the amp on the floor it will not move. For a more professional look you can cut a piece of wood to mount the amp and cap to. It will probably not move either but you can adhere carpet or velcro to the underside and that'll definitely give it enough traction.

I used double sided tape to mount my amp under the seat. The tape just kept the amp from moving back and forth.

Is there where most people mount their amps (when they're not being proudly displayed)? In my tC, I had it in my storage area the the right of the spare, but I don't want to cut the foam in my xB.

Mine has been there for a couple of months but within a month or so it will be in the back with my custom box that i am having made. so i threw it down there for space and because i knew i would be changing the back so didn't want to start cutting anything up.

I made a form fitted box to fit under the seat. The seat actually holds it in place, I didnt have to use any screws or drill any holes into my xB. The seat needs to be unbolted in order to get the box in and out. I made the amp mounting surface the same height as the floor brace under the seat. I initially set it up for my old school xtant amp and a 1 farad cap. Tha cap was positioned left to right, at the back of the box. My amp went on the fritz, so I swapped it out with another amp I had. The amp is like 12.5" x 12.5" x 2.25", and there was not enough room for the cap, so its not in the pics. The seat moves freely. In the last pic you can see the ground wire in the bottom lefthand corner. The box ends up locking between the brace that runs accross the floor and the right rear seat mount. Then you bolt down the seat and it locks it in place.

Are you guys just screwing them into the sheet metal under the seat?

My amp is mounted under the passenger seat, too. Instead of screwing into the sheetmetal, I put a piece of 1/4" plywood between the body and the carpet and fastened the amp to it.

has anyone ever tried cutting a piece of the rear passenger out to fit an amp in there? i mean... you'd figure since it's solid foam that it would be perfect? passengers would sit right on top of it *given you've put some sort of strong wooden roofing over the amp* and to what i've noticed, it takes a BIG person like 300lbs to really push the cushioning down enough to really feel a comfert diffrence.* i was thinking of putting my JBL BPX2200.1 in something like that and fabricate a small mesh metal grill to use as venting to help with any heat problems. could use as thin as 1/2" 7-9ply birch, that will hold upto about 800lbs if you have it braced right, or use 3/4" 11ply birch and never worry about too much weight caving in the cavitey...

EDIT - or even fiberglass, make it lighter and it would still hold given proper bracing...
