Default Amp question!

I know a few threads below there was a question regarding amps and what is best for what system. I didn't want to hijack that thread so I figured I would make my own.

I really have no idea ragarding amps so bear with me.....

In my hands I could have this amp "Crunch USA" Drive Series DS-4002 here is the link with the specific info . The price they are asking is $75....now is that worth the money? Pros & Cons for this amp?

My second question is....If I do decide to buy this particular amp, would it be enough to power 2 10's??? I can't remember who makes the 2 10's(sorry))...they are in an box enclosure...Any and all help would be greatly appreciated!!

Thank you!!

Omar

it would work but there is better amps on the market just shop around and look for one that will meet the specs you need...if not that one should work just depends on how your going to hook up the subs and what the subs specs are...and i dought that it actually puts out the wattage claimed

Electronics are finiky. You get what you paid for unless youre just paying for cosmetics.

There are a lot of amp manufactures out there that will inflate and over exaggerate their ratings. Yes even the companies based out of Arizona. Be familar with what you are buying and do research on various companies before purchasing your amp.

Manufactures will rate their amps at 14.4 (which hardly happens in a running car) and some will rate them at 12.5, so get the most bang for your buck. Here are a couple of useful sites..

This is some very good advice from Denny! You get what you pay for! A rule of thumb to remember when checking out the power rating of an ampflier is look at the amperage of the amp's fuses and remember the formula (Power = amps x volts). For example, if the amp has an internal 40 amp fuse, the power of this amp should be 40 amps x 12 volts = 480 watts. If the amp has an unregulated power supply and some do, then you will get more power at a higher voltage (40 x 14 = 560 watts). But like Denny said, your car is not always producing 14 volts! 12 volts or so is a more real world number.

So keep this formula in mind and look at the fuse ratings on the amp your wanting to purchase! If the amps says 2000 watts power and has a 50 amp fuse, buyer beware!

Its hard to tell if that amp is good or not, you cant even find decent specs on the amp..here is what the link says..

DS4002 $149.99

No way could a $150.00 amp push 800watt...even if there was mulitple lightning strikes.

But for $75.00 it's probably a good deal. DS-4002 is discontinued, the replacement is V-2400. the v-2400 i saw selling for $180.00

I have all crossfire in my car..
