amp question
I have an old MTX amp I would like to push a Kicker L7 12" with my question is I know nothing about Ohms, RMS or anything else so this amp says it has the following:
280 Watts Dynamic Power (IHF-202) Bridged info 2 Ohms (14.4 VDC)
I am hoping this will do the trick as I would rather get a better speaker and not have to buy and amp. I had this pushing two RF 10's about 5 years ago and it bumped both of the quite nicely (It was bridged as mentioned above)
Thanks in advance.

If it is 280 watts bridged but at a 2ohm load then it will put out 140watts at a 4ohm load (which is 1 speaker) and it will run cooler.
The "Dynamic" power is the same as RMS...they are the same thing. So this means that your SPEAKER should be about a 300 watt MAX speaker.
Standard subs have a continous power rating usually 1/2 of their max rating.
So an AMP that delivers 300 watts max and 150 watts RMS should be driving a speaker that is also 300 watts max and a continous 150.
My 2 cents

Ok great thanks, I am still a little confused so I guess I will just ask if this would be enough to power a 10" L7 for a while because I am broke right now and dont have the cash to buy a new amp so I am hoping this will do the trick for a while until the time comes.
thanks again
thanks again
