Another Amp Install Question
Hello,
I am installing 2 bridged sub amps and would like to know if the following is ok to do. I am running 4 Gauge power wire from the battery to a fused distribuation block with 2 fuses outlets. The 2 power outlets 1 to each amp with 4 gauge wire and ground wire to each amp. I was told that the fuse should be within 12 inches of the battery? but if you use a distribution block it would be back by the amp? Will this be OK instead of near the battery and how do I figure fuse rating per amp. Thanks to all you audio guru's for your help.

What you could do is have a standard inline fuse within 12 inches of the battery and then run the 4ga all the way to the back to the distribution block. for the fuse rating, the amp should come with a booklet and in that should be the rocommended fuse rating.

Oh yeah thats fine. Technically, the more fuses the better, but you obviously dont need more than one. In this case, you want one right up near the battery and then you want one for each amp. this way, there is no chance of the amp drawing more current and the fuse for the 4 ga will act sort of as back up incase neither fuse breaks the current. is it necessary, no. but you need one at the battery and then one for each amp power wire.
