Another Stupid Audio Question
Hello,
I am in the process of changing the stock speakers on the XB, 4" for the dash and rear and 5.25 for the front doors, the new head unit I will be getting will have front, rear and sub-outputs. The question is I would like to add an extra amp for the stock speakers. I was going to buy a 4 channel amp for this. Is this pretty much just mount amp and plug in the RCA's to the amp from the HU or will speaker wire need to be run. I told you this was a stupid Question
Thanks
John

Correct me someone, if I'm wrong.
Oh, and a suggestion, although it will add a little more work, IMO. Put Components in the doors...plenty of pics on here about where to mount the tweets in the doors. Go ahead and forget the 4" dash speakers, just unplug them.
You'll like the sound much better. I'd get these http://www.thezeb.com/p-CDT-Audio-EF...tem-108381.htm
I have the reg cdt-cl61a's and they are great, but these are much better and only $50 more than I paid for mine.

Alrighty then, I will be upgrading the stock speakers, and when I install the new ones I would like to give them an extra little punch so that's why the question about the amp, the HU will have pre outs for the front, rear and sub. For just the speakers will I be able to just run RCA cords to the amp from the HU and thats it or will I need to run speaker wires also. How's that!
Thanks
John
Thanks

the amp has a:
Ground : pick any location near the amp, and make sure the bolt u use has a good ground connection (maybe sand the area lightly w/sandpaper)
12v : run a good power wire (check the guage per manufacturer specs)
Remote wire: comes off the head unit (if you have a stock deck, this wont work, instead you'd put a manual switch)
then:
RCA inputs

RCA inputs: from the head unit (again, stock deck does not have outputs in rca format (or any format) you'll need an aftermarket deck (preferrably 4 channel output))
then, off the amp:
the "high-level" amplified output, splice these 8 wires into the 8 wires in your stock wiring harness behind the head unit; and Viola! youve got more BuMp!

Thanks for all the replies to this question, also some suggest components. Where would you mount the crossover and can the tweeters be mounted on the back side of where the mirrors are on the doors? Also it is suggested that the speakers on the dash be unplugged, so would that mean the 4 channel amp would run the components and the rear speakers only?
Thanks for the help.
