Default any SPL competitors in here?

Is anyone in here currently going to, or planning to go to any SPL competitions? If so what do you have, what class are you in (or going to enter in) and what model scion are you gonna compete with? just want to get a broad range of input from serious SPL competitors.

ED? Elemental Design? and R.E. subs? WOW, i have been hearing about that equipment. My fiance, Bill, (the owner of Illusions Audio) our shop, was telling me how good there specs looked. E.D. and R.E. sent literature to our shop and we were checkin it out...looked like pretty nice stuff, but im not too farmiliar with it. how did you do? how many db did you hit and what kind of mic. were you on? We were considering bringing those lines of audio into our shop, but we wernt sure how it would compare to something like...MMATS Pro Audio, which is probably our best brand we carry for our SPL competition customers.

I am a huge fan of RE. I haven't heard any of their newer stuff since they were bought out by US Amps but there older stuff (pre-06) was fantastic! eD makes very good stuff for the money. Dollar for dollar it's hard to beat eD. I hit a 137.4 which wasn't very impressive but that was my fault. I had just gotten the box the day before the comp and didn't have time to set my gains or anything.

I compete out here in Az.

I have 2 Soundstream T5 15's and a Soundstream 2000D amp @ 1ohm in the back of my xB, They are in a ported box. I compete in the 0-1000 modified. I hit a best 145.7 at 51Hz. I should be hitting alot higher but I am only running a Yellow top which is my cranking battery and no caps or extra batteries. and my box is tuned way to high. I am actually selling my current set up for a new one that will be alot louder.

145.7, not bad. Team Illusions hasnt competed since 2003. back then we took 1st place at finnals in kentucky with a 149.3 in the AS3 class in the Meca competitions. We were running 2 12" visonik subs, 1600w amp. in a Honda CRX. That was with the stock battery, stock alternator, and no caps. Its all about the box. if you have the perfect air space and port size, and the perfect amp vs. subs, you can do crazy things! hopefully this year we will be competing again, this time with an xb. We have 2 MMATS Pro Audio Juggernaut 2000w 12" subs, MMATS D3000.05 amp. in a rediculious Pro-Box. ive been itching to get back into competitions! these xbs are perfect for SPL. thats the original reason (back in 2004) that we bought them...for SPL, we just havnt got around to competitions yet.

About 6 years ago I ran 2 JL 15" and 3 Kicker Comp 12" powered by an Orion Extreme 800 & a 225 HCCA wih no cap in a 98 Explorer. My best was 141.3. I know that is not an Ideal set up, but I had no budget to work with and was grabbing what I could and throwing it in there. For the xB that I just picked up a few weeks ago, I'm going to install a JL 18W6, one of my Orion amps that I currently own, and a 1F cap. I'm not sure what to expect, but this is my daily driver.

I used to do it in my toyota celica, but i took everythign out of it.
I ran 2 Memphis 12's in a ported box, and a 1200 watt kicker amp. My best was 144.7 db of a termlab, and 144.2 on w/e meca uses lol.

I am trying to get a high number with a low tune, hopefully I would like to do the new 06+ RE XXX subs tuned very low like 28 or so in a huge box to increase efficiency....I just want to get a high number like 140+ at like 35hz or something crazy...anyways....

I am currently running a Sundown SAZ1500 on 2 10L7s in a TTB box. I didn't get it metered yet, but hoping to break the 40s again. The one setup I had which was a 12" RE SX in a ported box tuned to 32hz powered with a T10001bd and hit 139@42hz. Then I got a 15" FI BL in a crappy box tuned to 34hz and hit 141@44hz. Both were metered on a TL. I think I might be able to meter my new setup this coming weekend...we'll see if I can do 40s again. With 2 10s to boot

I would love to switch my setup to MMATS. Sat in an xB with 6 12"s in it and it was amazing.

I currently can do 141.8db at the headrest on the termlab (certified at a MECA comp). this is with 2 10s in a TTB box and 1500watts. I seen and know what it takes to get up to 145+ or even 150+ it takes a lot of cone area, or a lot of power. No normal Joe Shmoe will do 145+ on 1000watts PERIOD.

I'm not doubting that it can be done but it takes a lot of research and a ton of box building to get to that point and then if then, it will ONLY be a FART BOX.

ya. i'm just hoping for 140-141. my buddy hits over 150's cuz he's running over 7000 watts to 8-10's and its enough bass to make me almost puke sitting in it
