I find that there is a difference between a fart box and a daily box. But as we all should know that.

Anyways last time I was playing with the TL mic, legal placement on the windshield I was able to do 141.4db on MUSIC. Next time there is a comp, I will try to do bass race and race in the 130-139.9 class, hopefully hold 138-139db somewhere in between there.

There is nothing wrong with test tones, you burp your frequency, like for me I have to burp 52hz to get 141.8db at the headrest, I haven't tried dbdrag legal placement yet with a burp, but I'm pretty sure it would be 142-143db.

I just wanted to see what I would hit on music thats all. But that can also tell what kind of box you have, some people have a very high tuned box and can't play music for the life of them. I was reluctant to get TTB to design my box so that I can still dip down to 30hz and it will still **** like no other. Like the one song I have, Phil Collins "In the air" someone chopped and screwed it and added a bass line to it all sub 30hz, my tC's sunroof violently flaps up! LOL.

Check out my old threads from way back in April 07, I should have some flex videos when I had my FiCarAudio 15" BL sub.

^^ ok will do ( ya im just trying to get into spl for ***** n giggles cuz i prefer quality on mine as much as i love music n what not (what DJ wouldn't). and mines just a sealed box rather than a ported box so that definately has a difference as well from what i keep thinking it should. and did you ever put the "shades" closed during the spl for your sunroof? ( i tried to see if maybe that'd help with airflow a little bit more ;) lol

that should help you but a more effecient system with less power can blow the doors of many more powerful systems

I dunno but I feel as if to call BS on 147db with 1k watts.
why...

That is what the meter said. It was in the corner of the windshield. It was in 2004 about 4 weeks after I had the car and system. Over the years the meters have gotten better so I am told. I do not know what kind of meter but it seems that every year there is a new meter out that reads lower the last years. Now I am hitting form a 142.2 to a 143.5 with the same setup.

^^^ if the person that called BS is used to using term lab then i can see them calling that since term lab usually is off anywhere from 5-10db's compared to other spl monitors/mics/softwares nw hat not..... i found that out the hardway

not sure what kind of meter was used, but at the ames,IA show last year w/ 1200rms to 2 type r's it was at 147.9. So i dont think he's lying about the 147 part. Really curious to see what im hitting w/ the new setup but dont know anywhere that meters anywhere in teh chicagoland area GQQSE, do you know of any places?

^^ not a clue as im from central il. the one place that usually does SPL around here got lazy with everything, especially their shop and their products (basically beleive theya re going out of business)
best bet is to find a local audio shop and ask them if they have ti set up, because i know the guy that did my alarm is a top ranked audio guy and has his own db meter. (but thats in springfield)

hey everybody, i have a term-lab. they read a lot lower for sure. with the exception of ridiculous acoustic tuning inside the vehicle i sincerely doubt 2 12s are going to hit that at 1000 watts. that being said i know for a fact 2 12s with a "1000 watt" amplifier will hit that on an spl meter. the problem with this is you need to test the amp because they dont necessarily put out what they say and some are highly under-rated. i just sold my 2 mtx 9512s with my 92001 mtx amp and after in depth tuning the highest i got on the term lab was 144.6. the term lab reads the actual pressure in the car and that is why it is the most acurate and that is also why it reads a lot lower.

At the next show I will ask what they are using now. I think they might be using a term lab now and I am hitting a 142.2 avg. I know the 147 was on a spl mic. Also I have a Memphis am which I am told they do under rate there equipment allot.

it isnt much to look at but heres my 4 18" RF subs ran off a RF power 1000 5 channel amp.i have them wired at 1 ohm and i'm only pushing around 200 watts to each one.the box is sealed and i hit 143.1 DB's at 49hz before realizing all my gains and adjustments were down.i want to get it checked again soon before i pull it out and go with some older stuff.im not familiar with the whole competition thing.they put the mic at the passenger side floorboard.the guy right after me got to open his door.[/img]

^^^^^^^^^^^^ cant see your dark pictures....

4 18s can do some damage if the box is to spec. run all of those off a T40001bd and you will get some crazy numbers. The mic at the passenger side floor is what they call getting metered at the "kicks". It is outlaw style db drag. I gained 1.5db over than metering at the dash dbdrag style.

But yeah you should be able to do some hair tricks with that setup with the right power.

sorry about the dark pics. the box is to rockfords specs.4 cu ft per sub. the subs are 1995 model single voice coil rated at 250 watt RMS.i dont think they were intended for competition which sounds crazy because...why have an 18" sub right!?!

the box looks nice. to me though the box seems like it might be a little much for the level of bass it puts out.

Did you ever think about going with a speaker and amp that has more power and can handle more but need less air space. I have seen where 8 8" speakers hit in the 150s in the extended part of a truck. I know it is not always about the size that matters. At least when it comes to systems. But I also money is always an issue with everything.

well,i have 6 Rockford Fosgate T210's and a T30001BD amp that i could use but i wanted the 18's just to have them. i've got more stereo equiptment in my house than most stereo shops have in stock.i like getting stupid with my sound and i wasnt really looking for any glass shattering sound from these subs or i would go with some RE's. i usually change my systems out every 3 months so i dont get bored with them.
