Default Anyone have the DEI 530T window module?

I'm thinking about getting window modules in my tC to work with my Viper 791xv. I want to be able control both windows and the moonroof. Is it worth it? The price of two modules is around 150 before installation. That means more than 200 including install. That's more than the alarm itself. Anyone know where I can find a good deal? Anyone have DIY experience?

If I remember right you don't have enough extra channels to open and close the windows by the remote. I think the last one I did on a Viper 790XV we could get the windows to roll down through the remote but had to have the windows roll up on arm or when the siren went off. DEI makes a window module designed for sunroofs thats cheaper than a standard window module, well atleast they did a few years back.

Default viper 791 alarm install

this is in no way intended to hijack the thread but my question seems to be closely related...

i was wondering how easy this alarm install was on the scion tc. which wiring diagram did you use? i found a wiring diagram on www.the12volt.com that i think i am going to be using.

i've never installed an alarm before but i've been doing a lot of reading. i'm also in my final year of getting my bachelors in electrical engineering so i know my theory. i've also installed a good number of car stereos.

does the entire install mainly consist of tapping into wires and then actually putting the starter kill in line with the alarm? how many relays are needed if i intend to have a trunk release, light flash, and remote start?

I do not own a tC and have not installed on one yet but the Viper791 already has the ability to do neg. and pos. trigger parking light flash as well as the relays for remote start unless it requires an extra relay for such things as 2nd acc. or 3rd ign. or 2nd starter which depends on the wiring for your tC. If the tC uses an electronic trunk release and not a pull lever for the hatch then you will need a relay for that unless it is a lever then you will need a trunk release solenoid. If I am not mistaken you will also need an immoblizer bypass for your tC as well since it has a chip in the key. Once again I do not own a tC but most of what I have said should be right on maybe someone else can back me up.

thanks jmarks for the reply. so, the 791 doesn't have a an internal relay for trunk release right? do i have to use my own N/O relay or does DEI have one that they sell that works?

it sounds like you know how to install alarms. will the entire install consist of tapping into the existing car wires or will there be an instance where i might cut the existing wire?

I have several tc installs under my belt, the tc is a straight forward install if just the the alarm, to do the the remote start it does require a dei immolizer bypass, not the work of a beginner to install. but to answer you question yes, tapping into wires and making the connections is all it takes, be advised the light output is a negitive and you will need to change the jumper position if the dei has the provision. thanks bill,

which trasponder/immobilizer bypass did you use? the 555u?

does the user's manual explain how to program the remote? how difficult is it to do that?

will there be an instance where i might cut the existing wire?
The only wire you will need to cut is if you want to use the starter kill relay then you will have to cut the starter wire in the vehicle.

so if i get a trunk release, will I still have to lift it up or will it rise all the way with a touch of a button?

you'll have to look at your trunk since i haven't taken delivery of my TC yet. it's possible to hook up a hyraulic shock that steadily lifts the trunk if that is indeed what the TC uses to hold up it's hatch.

traditionally, remote trunk releases just do what normally happens when you manually release your trunk. anything additional requires additional parts.

I'm not sure if you have an electric hatch release or a pull lever. If you have an electric hatch release then it will do whatever it does now. If you hit a button and it only unlocks it than if you hook up trunk release to it it will just unlock it. If when you hit the button it unlocks it and opens it then it will do that. If you have a pull lever to open hatch though then you will need to wire a solenoid to the release mechanism in the trunk. Sometimes these can be a pain in the **** and sometimes they are easy.

it is a pain to get wires through the doors of tc's, so that will be your biggest problem... most of the wiring is straight forward and you can catch everything at the drivers door since the auto one touch is already a feature of the car...

when you unlock all the doors on tc's the trunk unlocks as well...

either 556u, or 555u will work.. i am going to try to see if the 555f, or s will work as well on the next one i do
