Default Anyone install Component Speakers in Front-Tweeter in Dash?

...I would like to install compent speakers in front. I have done this a dozen times with tweeter/crossover installed in door panel. In this case I want tweeter in 4" dash opening and was wondering if I needed to run wires to tweeter from crossover mounted in door or are both sets of wires from dash/door speakers easily accessible under dash or kick panel to hook up corssover? Are there actually 12 wires comiong from radio or are front dash/door speakers joined joined together?

Also, for those that have installed 6.5" in doors, were you limited in the speaker hieght (not depth). Crutchfield said that there is a maximum of .363" spekaer height/thicknes (above mounting location) available between adapter and grill/panel whcih is why their the list of apporvide speakers is only 10" of what they offer. I am hesitant to order scosche adapters and buy speakers on clearance locally if they end up not fitting.

Thanks,

Mojoman

I have Arc tweeters in the dash, the 6.5 inch woofer in a custom kick panel, and Ground Zero co-axials in the doors.

I left the crossover module in the dash and just ran the wired to the appropraite speakers.

I ended up putting a 5.25" midrange driver in the dash (a little work but with the stock grill on you wouldn't suspect a thing) and the tweeter in the a-pillar. I put the x-over in the kickpanel and ran wires to the mid and tweet and tapped into the factory dash speaker harness. I made a speaker mount in the door out of 3/4" MDF for a 6.5" midrange. I ran new speaker wire into the door and put the x-over in the kick panel also. I haven't decided what to do with the other tweeters yet.

I appreciate the info but I am still trying to find out where the factory wires from the doors and dash run through vehicle and where are the wires spliced together...whcih woudl be the best locaiton for aftermarket crossover when installing component woofer in door and tweeter in dash. This would prevent any rewiring and use off all factory wiring.

I mounted my xovers in the truck since thats where my amps were. then i ran fresh new wire in through the doors. You just need to jun it through the rubber boot that is in the door jamb by the hinges. it was prety easy overall.

Also since im lazy i just put the tweeters in the sail panel. I made custom mounts for them and not it looks factory

I have Pioneer Premier 6.5" 4 ways in my doors with the Scosche SAT6 spacers. The tweeters extend almost 5/8" from the mounting surface and I had no clearance problems with the door panels. I found Crutchfield to be quite conservative with their numbers.

I have a set of components installed in the dash tweet spot. Is this what you are talking about.

Wow that looks sweet. Are you using a 2 speaker or 3 speaker component?

I know... old thread... but i didn't want to start a new one....

OK, I am looking to replace my stock speakers with a set of Alpine Type R's.....

http://www.crutchfield.com/S-5vE7w50...&search=alpine for the front.... and same for the rear (not component though)... rear.. http://www.crutchfield.com/S-5vE7w50...&search=alpine

Now, my question is this... These are 6.75", not 6.5". Crutchfield says they will not fit, but they aren't always correct. Anyone know if there would be any fitment issues with the type R's? Also, does the Scion have a speaker adaptor similar to any other Toyota that I can say is "my car" so I can get the free connector from crutchfield??

OR

Would I be better off going with the Alpine Type S's http://www.crutchfield.com/S-5vE7w50...&search=alpine

Anyone using Alpine speakers in their box???
