Default anyone tried this? Archos 7 on dash

I had a couple of 2-3 hour drives recently and i needed something to pass the time as i tend to drive about 2am with the freeways empty and my silverstars throwing light pretty far allowing me to see pretty well, i tend to get tired/bored sometimes, so i have been watching (mostly listening) to movies, mostly documentary stuff that doesnt require much visual attention. In the pic im watching "this movie has not yet been rated".

so anywho i got my Archos 7 on my dash and ive was watching it rested on that wonderfully open dash area by putting it there standing with some anti-slip mat below it. it was all good but i had to look down every now and then to watch it, so what i did was i laid it down facing upwards toward the window and let the reflection show it like a hologram or hud, its backwards like a mirror effect but its still watchable and pretty clear. i set the backlight to the lowest setting as well

you get a cool see through image that you can keep you eyes on the road and see through the movie like a HUD, just gotts find a way to display in mirrored image mode, lol

i know some of you are waiting for the flame wars on how its unsafe to watch movies while driving and blah blah blah. save it please. i just wanted to bring up the notion of the kind of hologram look you get and was wondering if anyone has seen anything similar or done anything similar, it would be cool with gauges and stuff, i got the idea from when i was young my aunt had a 240sx and the speedometer had something similar.

I forgot to mention i also used similar methods with my phone (HTC Touch Pro) to display time (not too hard to read backwards) also GPS though google maps, this is less usefull since its reverse, but its cool to watch, lol

GPS and media player from my carputer. The screen has a mirror flip function, so image on the windshield is facing the right way.

I've been waiting for a vendor to come out with something similar to the 240sx hud display. IceMage, that's really cool how you seem to have your screen projected onto your windshield. How exactly is that getting up there? It looks like the image is being thrown from someplace, but I can't see the source.

Care to share more info on your setup? Very curious!

Thanks!

My HUD setup

Screen: 5.6inch TFT LCD Module, 640x480, AT056TN52
http://stores.ebay.com/VitroLight-LCD-Module-Bay
The LCD velcroed to the dashboard.

Problem: Windshield causes a double reflection.
Solution: A piece of adhesive backed polarizer film on the windshield from http://www.3dlens.com/shop/polarizer.php. Tint might also work, but I never tried it.

Problems: Glare from the screen lights up the interior of the car at night. The LCD hardware is highly visible from the outside of the car.
Solution: 3m Notebook Privacy Filter http://solutions.3m.com/wps/portal/3...erFilter/Home/
Bought on eBay. I cut two rectangles from one sheet and taped them onto the LCD. One blocks light left/right and one at an angle to block light above/below. This also reduces the viewing angles of the reflection.

cool. cool. what about the carputer, any specs? what do you use for input? I have a small screen i had laying around for a while and i recently won a eBox-3300 with windows CE 6 and was wondering what i could do with it, this might be a good reason to convert it to maybe windows XP or something like that, and since its Solid state i should be perfect for the car.
