Default Anyone try this for changing the lighting?

Has anyone tried using lighting "gels" to change the colors of the gauge cluster and or the clock? It would be a lot easier than swaping out the l.e.d.s if you didn't know how to solder and it wouldn't fade like sharpies. All you would have to do is tape them down with some electic tape or something. Let me know what you know about this. Oh and heres a picture of the product:

just look at them as colored paper that is translucent.

i dunno if it would work thats why i'm asking...hehe. in theory it should. these are the same gels as they used for stage lighting. they can take very high temperatures and are made for light to pass through them...but, you may lose some light output because the light is passing through something...not totally sure.

I have that in mine right now! So far, after a week it still looks great. I got it to match the amber of the clock on the speed/tac/fuel gauge. I put it behind the the face so you can only see the change at night. Works great and super easy!

so i'm guessing you cut it out to cover just the l.e.d.s and just held it down with some sort of tape? any pictures of it working? any loss of light?

This is how I changed my dome light. I took orange accetate that was like 50 cents at a art store and cut a small piece to fit the dome light and wala it is orange. It works well and heat hasn't been a problem.

Nope, I covered the whole back of the gauge face. Used a hole punch for the needles and it looks great I will try to take a pick for you tonight. Nice even glow. Slight loss of light but that will happen with any color you put on.

how come it wont work?

can't you just cut out the sheet to just cover the 6 leds (i think its six) that light up the clock and tape it there?

Here is a pic of what it looks like. I have two pics in my gallery. Sorry I didn't post it directly to the thread. I know I need a better camera but it is the best I could do tonight. Running late, see ya!

Thanks for putting up with me

if you put blue over the orange clock, its going to be nasty. Just swap out the LEDs. I did mine in green. Its also possible to change the idiot lights.
