Default Go to a junk yard

I went to pickapart junk yard theres a bunch of then in cali. The place was lined with taurus's all over the place. Theres only 3 screws that hold it down and its really easy to get to so you can rip one out like that. Get new fabric applied, i was lucky i found one that had fabric that matched mine.

I have no idea why there are so many ford taurus cars in the junk yard ;)

I would love to figure out how to do the same thing for an xB (theres more room between the seat and i would like to know what would fit) So if you live in SD and want to do the same thing to you xB let me know. You buy the parts, pay the machine shop for welding and everything i do is free. I would like the challenge.

Default Thanks

Now all i need is some Scion repair tech to find an extra roll of fabric so it does match the interior. Any leads would be great. Oh i should mention that i can still shift and use the parking brake and I can still up the little change holder too! I'm happy with this mod but i want to take it back out and raise it a bit.

Damn, and I was at pick-a-part the other day lookin at ____ for a 87 camry. Cool beans. And I know they have lots of taurus' there cuz I redid my entire front end (hood, fenders, mirror, bumper, wheels) for under $300. That is the best it gets

You need to get that guy who made your bracket to make a bunch and start selling them, we can get our own arm rests, but the bracket is nicely made!

Default The guy who welded my bracket.

Without sounding like a sales man.
His name is Jorge Ibarra
he is in san diego and his number is 858-578-0086.
He works at J&E welding
If you bring in your Scion and the arm rest piece(including the factory mount part) he will do it right there it only takes about an hour to do it.

Just make sure you let me know because his rate is $60.00 an hour and it took me and him about 3 hours to figure out the best way to do it. I went thru 3 different design ideas and this is the one that worked the best. If you let me know you can have my design and save all that time. He told me if anyone else wanted the same thing he could use mine as the template and get it done really quick.

I got my arm rest from a ford taurus circa 1987-93 i found at a junk yard for 3 bucks.

Default drawings

I tell you what. I plan on taking it out monday or tuesday night and i will do up good drawings for you. The orginal drawings were way off by the end and we were making it up as we went along. To give you an idea of how far off from the orginal idea i was the bar was suppost to be a straight bar that ran straight up. The offset (curve) on it is because without it it would hit the shifter and i kinda would like to be able to put it into drive. and i didnt want to mount it further back because i wanted it to go under the center console. The reason im taking it out is because i want to raise it up about 3 more inches if you look at the picture its kinda riding low in the seat.

Also look early in this thread as there are photos there if you did not see them yet.
