Default Audio opinons!

Okay, I just upgraded all my factory speakers with Pyle's. I know alot of people hate Pyle, but I'm pretty happy with them so far! My next task is upgrading my 2, 10" subs. The subs I have now are only putting out 150Watts RMS, and I want more power than that. I can either upgrade to Pyle's 500 Watt RMS. Or AudioBahn's 300Watt RMS. I'm running a Pioneer 760Watt amp, which I'm probably going to keep. I know most are going to say to go with the Audiobahn's but I like the idea of keeping a theme for all the audio. Also, they are both about the same in price. Opinions or advice would be greatly appreciated!!

None of the above. How much are you looking to spend for the pair?

I would save a little more cash and go with something nicer. JL, JBL, Kicker, Matts, etc....

You smokin somethin. Don't bother with those things. Hell, I'd rather go with pyramid super blues with the Jensen label still on them before defiling myself to stooping as low as audiobombs. Do this, 1 (and only one) dual voice coil 12" Alpine Type-R rated at 2ohm per coil (2005 model, not 2004). You can find them for about $75. You won't be able to find a cleaner louder sub for less.

Quality products, go RE, JL, SoundSplinter, Adire.

those subs will be seriously underpowered with that amp and sound crappy. you're better off buying one sub and bridging the amp for the best end result.

What about MA Audio 10" Subs? The ones I'm looking at are 300Watt RMS. Would these be better than the Audiobahn's?

ma subs are pretty good. just remember, your amp does not put out 300 watts rms, so buy your subs accordingly. i think your amp puts out something like 120 rms x2 or 420 rms by 1, so use that info when making a buy. you can get some jl subs that will work well with that setup for a good deal on ebay if you look. it'll pound and sound pretty clean imo, but i'm not a bass fiend.

i have that same amp pushing one eclipse 10' sub and it hits pretty good. really clean and if i push it everything in my xa rattles.

Don't be too discourage by all of the negative responses. Simply, you will have alot of bass with either of those subs!! If you want even more bass, put them in a ported box. You might consider just using a single sub. It will be a better match for the wattage you have, but it's not required.

If you are entering any competitions you MIGHT want to buy something a little different. But if not, you shouldn't sweat it.

MA subs would be better. But, I would still go with one strong 12" DVC 2ohm rather than two meager 10s. MA subs are about like Orion subs, just made by a different company. I had a single 12" (RF P3) I used to bump all the time on 500W (RMS) pushing 128.7db. I've had many compliments on the setup for what it was. Now I'm running 2 8W7s and hitting 146.1 on a TL mic with the same amp. Number of speakers is not always better, same with effeciency. Your best output will have a good linear xmax, mild effeciency, and a decent Fs response. A low Fs is what you should look at for a good quality tuning speaker. The xmax will give you the linear excursion or tell you how much air is being pushed. The larger the xmax, the louder and deaper it "can" get. If you have a speaker with too high of an effeciency, you will lose some of the low end quality replaced by a frappy sound (common in Audiobahn subs). The last part you want to look at is the effective piston area (Sd). You can have two 10" subs with different piston areas due to the size of the rolled surround. Oversized rolls drop Sd for more xmax but sacrifice the output by skewing the critical curves. I may know quite a bit about audio, but I don't know everything.

With one single sub, you can pound the living snot out of the listening stage if done right. The key to doing it right, don't use some horrid prefab box and use a speaker designed to perform at your peak specs. In the end, it's your ears... not mine. Your best bet, head over to a car audio forum dedicated to car audio and check around for some used equipment. For $100, you can find some incredible equipment.

Some good information on here. I would also go for a single quality sub in a custom built and tuned enclosure over two marginal subs in a pre-fab enclosure.

Take a look at RE, JL, eD and Diamond subs.

agreed with the rest, Pyle-of sheet- and Audiobomb-theft deterrence are both basically junk... Alipne, JL, Rockford, MTX, Infinity could all be found on ebay for good prices....not to mention, although being used, any of the above subs will sound better....

I have one Resonant Engineering 15" HC powered by a Lanzar HTG2600D amplifier, and I dont know many 2 or 3 subwoofer setups that are louder.

In audio, you get what you pay for BIG time.

It was the bling wasn't it? Sigh. I'm almost scared to think of what amp you got. God I wish I still had my 4 8" L7s on 2000W Honda CRX (got torched). That beast could almost crank out the brown note (17.6Hz close to 160db).

Yeah I know... and my little cubby car got ganked, rolled, and smoked. Of course the entire audio setup I had was nowhere to be found in the torched car. They never caught the bastards who did it either.
