Default Auto up AND down windows

Hey guys, did a search, but did not find this.

I have a 2002 4Runner with auto up and down front passenger windows. I swear to you that the window switches in my 4Runner look exactly like the window switches in my xB.

Here's the question: If I put a 4Runner auto down and up switch in my xB, will I now have that capability? I figure it wouldn't be more than $30 to purchase a new switch from the parts department. Anyone try this? Anyone have any ideas if this could work?

I really like this feature in my 4Runner and I hate not having it in the xB

By the way, my 4Runner is TCM, just like my xB. They look cool sitting side by side together in my driveway!

I could be wrong, but I don't think the switch panel holds
the relay that does the auto up/auto down feature.

I got some universal relays for my Porsche, I think they were
about $50 each window. I can try and find the site were
I got them from if your interested. PM me if you can't find
the answers your lookin' for here and I'll do some searching for you.

Hmm, so the magic happens in the relay rather than the switch? The switch itself looks the same from the outside, but the auto up and down switch in the 4Runner has that little detent where if you want it to auto up, you have to pull it just a little futher until it clicks. My point being, I would need to get a switch and a special relay?

I had a Toyota Surf 4WD (4Runner in US) in Japan with those same window switches and I was thinking the exact same thing. They look exactly the same. I'm having my friend in Japan to stop by a junkyard and pick up some auto switches and send them back to me.

I love the auto switches, but was dumbfounded when I pulled up on the switch in the Scion and let go... the window stopped as soon as I let go. WTH? I'd call that... sem-auto.

Those would be nice. But this is the first car I had that I didn't have to manually crank the windows. So it would be low on my mod list.

I know aftermarket are EXPENSIVE. To get power up/down added to my alarm was going to be $75 PER WINDOW. I declined gracefully.

you can also go with the DEI 530T if you have an aftermarket alarm, it'll be auto up, down and can be controlled by the alarm.

the 530t's work well - but you will need 4 of them to make all 4 windows roll up AND down. One module can make one window up/down, or two seperate windows up (or) down only.

your talking about the DEI 529T which is one way up for two windows or up and down with one window. the 530T is up and down for 2 windows so if you want to do all four you'll need 2 modules!

What about the tC parts? The tC is both AUTO up and AUTO down.

Okay...the switch itself has NOTHING to do with the capability of going auto up and down -- it is merely a toggle.

I was just thinking that the tC switch and other components would be an easy install. The switch does make a difference as well. It is actually a 5 position switch internally. It has a Neutral position, UP, AUTO UP, DOWN, AUTO DOWN. Those are the clicks, or stops that you feel. You will need both the switch, and the control peices. I have not taken it apart so I cant tell you how they have the control set up.

Hmm... it would be simple to just take them off a tC.... Gonna probably have to wait a few years for some tC's to end up in the junkyard...

that would only take care of the two front doors.... a lot of trouble when you don't do all 4.

Actually - the switch has A LOT to do with it.

Oops... forgot you had four to control in the xB. You would acually have to have two sets from the tC then. If they would fit in your stock mounting area, then it should be feasible. Not sure how much the stock switches are though.

I digress - you are correct. Had to go back to the shop and while there looked in the cabinet.... the 529's are 2 up or 1 up/down ... 530's are 2 up/down or 4 up or down only.
