AVIC-N1 Upgrade/Downgrade?

AVIC-N1 Upgrade/Downgrade?
For anyone who has an AVIC-N1 and registered with Pioneer, you will be getting your upgrade Map Discs. You probably have verzion 1.1 and they will send you 1.2. Rumor has is that they have put some additional software on the disc that will not allow you to drive while you are on video. Some how it hooks up with the Gyro and senses when you are moving. I was just wondering if anyone else has heard that. I have not put the new version in my deck yet.

its definitely true!!!!!!!!!!! My friend did it...its an updated map disc but it installs a program that wont allow DVD's to play when the car is in motion...my friend is workin on burning a copy of the DVD w/out the program but it doesnt look like its gonna happen cause he cant find the new gyro files on the disc. If anything changes I will let ya know! Ohh yea...for everyone that did put the download disc in their avic, all you hafta do to get it back to playin DVD's is to reflash the system and it clears it out for ya. We found out about this a while ago...good thing i never used the disc on mine!!!!

i have the avic n1, i got the new ver 1.2 discs
(actual words version 1.2. cndv-40mt (east))
i have played many movies while driving after using the new disc's
all i can say is this is not a blanket statment to say about all the n1 units...mine is fine with the new discs and operation while moving.

ok... the n1 is better then the n2 for one reason.. the n2 u CANNOT use the dvd player while the car is in use.. with the N1 u can still do that with some wiring mods.. the n2 uses a speed sensor to see when the car is in motion and when the car is in motion u cant use the dvd player!

thats why i mentioned my disc info...it could be a diff series...
i tested and verified this today...it sucks if that happened to your friend, but this does not happen to all n1's...
