I tried posting it before, but that was on an image server that gives up after like 5 views...

I finally got photobucket, so I'm doing it again letting everyone see it this time...

Personally, I don't like anything Sony makes except TVs. And I would have gone for a nicer enclosure. But that's better then no setup at all or just the Bazooka sub.

I think you said in a previous post that you work at best buy and got a good deal on this stuff. Take it all back, get a single RF P3 12", an RF p500 amp, and a 4 guage kit with a distro block. You don't need caps in a new TC. If you still have money left over, get a new head or outboard amps for your front speakers.

Much higher quality sound, more trunk space. RIght now, you system is designed people who will be wowed by 2 distorted 12. Keep your trunk closed and let them listen to the system. After they can't say enough nice things about it, then you open up the trunk.

Now...at the Best Buy I work at, we have an extremely high quality proffessional sound guy...I forget the proper term, but this guy knows what he's talking about...

He does this for a living...he got a 170 SPL measurement off 1 12" sub doing 1000 watts...

He recommended the P5's to me...Over the P2 RF's...Now, I dont think a proffessional would recommend such a crappy sub? Because th P5's aren't crap...they are actually very nice...

if he ever had a car that even hit a 130 then he wouldnt have told you to buy this trash (unless he doesnt want you to have any thing better then him)

and what he would be is a MECP Certified tech

That is a lot of very mediocre aquipment. And you are putting red speakers in a blue car? I know astetics shouldn't matter that much, but yuck.

This forum is now sponsored by elemental designs audio. Everyone should really check them out, they can run circles around just about anything for the money.

elemental Designs, Treo, Adire, Resonant Engineering all > JL or anything else.

My personal fave is probably the RE XXX, but way more speaker than I will ever need.

It's your money, do whatever, but all you will be getting is SPL. Dirty, distorted, farty, SPL. Your car will be the loudest on the block, and will sound like ____ besides.

Right now you are investing no money in any part of your system except to make it sound loud. It's your money, waste it as you see fit.

Constructive comments: Don't spend all you money on bass (and bad bass besides), it's only part of your sound. If you want to stay with the P5 fine, but take half of that back, go with a single 12 and spend the rest on new head, speakers, outboard amp for fronts (in that order). Quality of sound over quantity.

Also, why did your PRO recommend 2 8 guage cables instead of a single 4 guage to a distro block? Does your PRO like cramming 2 as much wire as necessary through firewalls and under carpet to make an ugly installlation? 4 guage and a distro block will handle a good sub amp and four channels for the mains just fine. Also, once again, you don't need a cap. Todays car's are equiped with very efficent batteries and alternators. Caps are a thing of the past unless you are driving a total hooptie.

Agreed, but this guy works at best buy so he probably wants to get his equipment from there. Huge discount, you would too if you could.

The RE XXX is a sub that is designed to look like a big sub, but not perform like one...

Look at it's setup...the motor is so far back that it won't give out as much power as it's taking in...

What is pictured there is all that I purchased at the time...The PRO said I am going to need a lot more equipment at time of installation...I am also purchasing the Viper alarm system to be installed at the same time...

This PRO knows what he's doing...if the P5's weren't good in any way, he wouldn't have recommended them...

I'm personally not a big fan of Sony car audio equipment. I'm sure if you put everything in it will hit loud and bump but i'm not sure how clear it will be. I have 2-10" solobaric L7's and 2-300.1 jbl amps with a battery cap and mine hits really clear. Sounds pretty good in the car, by what I think and what my friends say. Put everything in and let us know what happens. Goodluck with the system though and post some more pics when you get it done.

Uh... k

Aside from being one of the best subs I have ever heard musically they also get plenty loud. I don't have the time, energy, or money to commit to a system that would take advantage of it... hence more than I need.

But enjoy your sony.[/i]

Wow, thats a lot of junk.

If you have to stick to Bestbuy junk, then a Rockford p3 would sound so much better. No needs for caps, no need for 2 install kits.

Friend has a single 10" p3 in his TC from BB and its pretty nice. Way nicer than any sony stuff.

Maybe you should find another "pro" for a second opinion.

Well...to each their own...

the pro you speak of, i question his authority.

2 caps for a whole 800 watts? a little unnecessary
no components/coaxials? necessary
no amp for components? necessary
no new head unit? perhaps necessary, some may argue

Sony? unconsiderbale
If you want to go the best buy route I would check into RF, so you can at least get a little better quality.

As for your pro, remeber he works at best buy. Not to knock all best buy techs, but most professional techs are working for private steroeshops or Audio companies. Not too many intelligent installers enjoy doing the typical sub and amp or alarm combo.

Just my .02 though

uh, wow, um... believe whatever you want to believe son. 1 XXX will F@#ing destroy 4 of those sonys and sound a ____load better doing it.

It's obvious you don't know ____ about ____ when it comes to car audio, so i hope you had fun wasting money on your (obviously) first set up.
