Default Is the Bazooka Subwoofer worth $96?

I just found the Bazooka subwoofer at a reputable online parts place, and was wondering if it was worth the 70%-off price of $96. I've been happy with the factory system, but was just looking for a minor upgrade.

Over the years, the reviews have proven that it's not worth the original dealer price of $360, of course. But the fact that it may boost just enough for me and can be easily removed when necessary seems like a pretty good deal at the current price.

Thanks in advance to those that weigh-in.

They sound o.k. if you want just a little extra low end. Nice plug and play unit for the price.

If I were you, I'd search Craigslist for an Infinity Basslink. I got one used for $80 and it fits perfectly under the passenger seat.

I bought one for around the same price not too long ago. I like mine.
I listen to a lot of metal and didn't want to get a face-pounding bass system because double-bass just doesn't sound right to me with so much bass going on, so I decided on the Bazooka.
The "thump" is definitely there, but what I like is that even fully cranked it's still manageable and sounds clean.

The install took about 15 minutes altogether, really easy to do. The hardest part was the stupid thumbscrews that came with it just would NOT screw into the bass mounts.

I keep mine at about half level, volume between 15-25, Bass at 0, Treble at 3, balance/fade at 0, ASL at mid, and SSP at Hear/Feel (depending on the genre) and the car type as xA. Sounds great, I can have a good bass thump, and it's not overly loud that people will stare at you (although if you crank the tube up to the max, play some THX bass samples and have the windows rolled down you might get someone looking).

Ditto^^^^^^
I love mine for some of the same reasons
and I just used one of the bracket mounting bolts as a tap and run it through the threads on the thumbscrew brackets now its a breeze. I think it had some residual coating in the threads that needed cleaned out.
For $90-100 shipped cant go wrong.
You will loose some trunk space but its not that bad.

Yea, did the same thing because I noticed there were absolutely no threads so I made my own.

I also did my own mount. The way the OEM mounting template wanted it to go, it looked like it would either rub onto my hatch or be so close I would freak out every time...so I mounted it sideways next to the rear seat.
If you get the sub with all the documentation you get the suggested template, and then a blank template (supposed to be used if you have the cargo mat) but I marked off my own holes to put it where I wanted to.

It comes with everything included to be plug and play, about 15-30-minutes for install. Remove dash surround, glove box, passenger side trim pieces, run harness & plug it in,
drill holes for mount, put it back together, DONE

Sorry for the delay, everyone - I didn't see the requests for the link until this morning:

Bazooka from scionpartspeople

They have a lot of good deals for misc OEM Gen I parts (ex - Foglight kits for $77???)...

How do you hook it up to an aftermarket head unit? Since i'm sure the plug and play adapter is not going to just plug in.. Do you just splice it in with specific wires?

I got mine yesterday, I installed it today.. I was expecting a little more from it. I'm not very impressed at all! You can't even hear it outside of the car at all. My stock speakers seem to output the same amount of bass. Depending on where you position it, it might sound better. I tried many different places, the only time it seemed worth leaving in the car was when I had it under the drivers seat and I could feel the vibrations and it seemed a little louder, but the seat wouldn't slide and it was forced under there.. Not very good for the tube... Oh well, I'll just sell it lol

I'm curious... did you adjust the gain on the tube? I've heard the OEM setup... albeit it's not the most wonderful option in the world, it is better than nothing. Don't expect the boys down the block to hear you coming their way with it though.
