Default Best location for mounting tweeters

Hey Guys.... I finally got my New speakers for my box... I went with Infinty Ref 6010CS. I had the 6000cs in my Xterra and loved them. What would be the best spot for them in the stock location on the dash or in the doors???? Any pictures would be great!!! Also do I need a mounting bracket for the rear speakers???? I am putting Infinity 5012si for rear fill

You always want to keep an elevated sound stage, so placing speakers in the dash locations would be better for your tweeters. Ideally though you would want to elevate them to just about eye level on the A pillars.

I have mine the stock dash location and they sound GREAT! I highly recommend that. I also would recommend getting the tweeter as close to the factory grille as you can. I made an adapter out of 1/8" ABS and covered it in Dynamat. Works wonderfully.

Oh, and for the rear speakers, you can use the front Scosche brackets and some self-tapping screws to hold them in. I did that with my Image Dynamics 6.5's. Unfortunately I forgot to get pictures of them.

Sorry it is kinda hard to see because I painted the cover to match the door panel but they are at the top front of the door.

I had mine mounted there, but it didn't sound too good, so I took the flush trim ring and covered it in grille cloth to fill that hole. That hole will be filled and covered this summer. I really like the sound of the dash locations

I have 3 way speakers in the front so the dash locations have my mids in them so the door was the logical location for the tweets. I think it is better to have the tweeters point towards eacch other for sound quality and the dash location for the tweeters does not allow for this.

I was hoping for the same thing, but the door locations did not supply the best SQ. I had JL Audio 4" 2-ways in the dash and the component set in the door. It sounded good, but no where near as good as the current setup. My soundstage is twice as wide, the high end is much smoother, but maybe the different speakers we are using have very different off-axis responces.

You may be right as far as saying the different speakers may have different off-axis response and I have never had my tweets in a different location so I can't comment on how they would sound in the dash location. Did you sound deaden the doors when you had your tweets in the doors?

I also ( like GLN305) have my Kicker 6.5 component tweeters in the factory 4 inch( im sorry 2.75 LoL) location on the dash. I made the same abs plates, but made mine just a bit bigger, so i could add a 2nd tweeter, if needed. And i get great sound from that location. Dont get me wrong there is always a better place to put them for sound quality, but i am trying to keep it as factory as possible, with no extra holes anywhere. Plus im deaf from to many years of installing car stereos any way, LoL

I had a little different approach with my "3-way" set. I did an Infinity Kappa Perfect woofer in the door, and a Memphis 4" coax in the dash. I cut the tweeter off the bass blocker on the coax and wired them all to a MB Quart 3 way crossover. The Memphis tweeter is a little harsh, but the fuller mid's sweeten the sound. I've also got a Phoenix Gold MS-275 powering them.
