I'm not at all going to say that what I have is the best, but I am very happy w/ it. Currently using a single 10" Audiobahn Flame Q and I love it. I'll probably add another 1 or 3, but thats neither here nor there.

Kicker L7s
JL W7s
Alpine Type Rs

What kind of enclosure are you going to be running...

Personally I had a 15" Resonant Engineering HC and got tired of lugging around a 150lb+ box. I ended up going with an underseat enclosure and I'm using a JL W3V2 which I love. Save the space if you got it, just my two cents.

JBL W10GTi lot of ppl hate on JBL but if you get the good stuff it s worth it. The W10GTi is a 3000 watt peak sub. This series of subs just keeps bringing in the trophies at international competitions. Just look up http://www.teamgates.org/bronco_2004.html

i just installed kappa perfect 10 vq in a q-logic sealed box(.65 cu) with kenwood amp
kac-7201 460 watts rms bridged.
i have had infinity componants in my past rides but have to say that i am a little
dissapointed in the sub.
it just dosnt thump like i thought it would. my last 10 bazooka tube thumped harder.

BAM! This guy knows his stuff!
I have an IDMAX and have put many W7's to shame. W7's are good, but you're being charged a lot just because of it's reputation.

IDMAX=

^^ agreed... JL is awesome but is too much $$ for what you get... IDMAX subs are outstanding, Adire Audio Kodas are CLEAN... Adire Audio Brahmas are poundin'... And lets not forget Elemental Design's little 11Ov.2's... super good sound and real inexpensive!!!

It all really depends on what you are wanting to do with the sub, how you will (can) power it and how you will install it. Completely disregarding all of those factors I would take a look at these...

Resonant Engineering XXX10
Probably one of the most revered subwoofers on the market today. Insane amounts of bass and power handling.

Image Dynamics IDMAX10D_ V.3
Excellent sound quality sub woofer that still offers ample bass. You probably won't find them available except through an authorized dealer. And they won't be cheap, but not as ridiculous in price as many other brands.

Diamond Audio D910d_
Very reasonable priced. Easily handles 600 watts RMS. Excellent sound quality and deep bass for the money. Very hard to beat it for the price.

Elemental Designs 11Ov.2
To be honest, I haven't heard this sub in person, but do have a 11Kv.2 in my wife's car. I am very pleased with that sub in my application and have only heard good things about the Ov.2 series of subs. Pricing on this subwoofer is also EXTREMELY reasonable and is available factory direct. They also back up their products with excellent customer service.

The reality though, is that it all depends on how you will use the sub, and how it will be installed. Let us know how you want to use the sub and how you plan to install it and you will quickly see the field narrow.
