Default Best SPL Subwoofer!

Alright... I want to put 2 12's in my car. I want to know what would be the best to subwoofers to put in. I want to win ALL SPL contest. I am going strictly SPL. Tell me what Subwoofers I need and what amps.

Thanks in advance.

Take a look at ARC Audio.... they are used by many competition orientated individuals and have a great reputation... one of the best audio companies out there when it comes to SPL....

I second the RE MT suggestion. I am currently running an RE XXX and it is insane. If you want all out SPL then the MT should definately be put high on your list.

Digital Design, Treo, Resonant Engineering, MTX RFL(15 only), Kicker soloX

may even look at Pioneer Premier:

what are you planning to use to power whatever sub(s) you get? are you planning to build a wall? or stay below the window line? if your going for pure spl your going to need a good sized box tuned to like 60hz which will not sound good in a everyday vehicle, if you want to compete everyonce in a while like me you can tune to like 40hz but no lower than 35hz

^^agreed, I forgot to mention that.....

If you're wanting to rule SPL, your system is gonna sound like poo.... I'd do whatever you're going to do with the SPL, then also get a seperate amp and single 12 or something for everyday listening.... You could even incorporate them into the same enclosure (with seperated airspaces) and just have a switched remote wire to go from SPL amp(s) to the daily amp(s).....

BTW: if you're really looking into SPL comp, look into a rewound alternator and some extra batteries

RE MT, Digital Designs.....
If your wanting a Pure SPL set-up and plan on winning I wouldn't suggest you have this kind of set up in a every day driver.
The subs I've mentioned can take a crazy amount of power and all power equals a ton of current draw
You would spend more money on amps and extra batteries than you would on the rest of your stereo. I forget what the MT can take but I think I've heard of people pushing 12,000watts to them for SPL burps......

I hear the Kicker Solo X rock out hard as well for SPL. No matter what you are going to need a lot of airspace and a great box design.....

I'm more into Street Beating Myself, I have 2 MTX 9500 12's and they jam ok.....nothing spectacular. I wish I would have got the Phoenix Elite 12's instead but oh well.....live and learn.

If I could do i all over I would buy 8 JL W3V2d4 subs and put in a wall .....
I would push them with my Eclipse DA7232 Amp which would give them 250watts a piece and i would totally hurt you.

I went to CC they other night in Millbury, MA. Lookin at the subs they had there and one of the installer guys comes out. Small talk for a bit and he takes me and my roommate out to hear his system in his car. He was runing two 12" L7's with a monster Kicker Amp pushing 1200 watts to each sub. IT WAS THE LOUDEST **** I EVER HEARD! He said that at sound comp's, he hit 147.1 db's. If any of the stuff mentioned here booms louder than that, then more props to the people that have them in their whips. The only thing 5h1tty bout his sytem is that he had them in a Kia Spectra5. Oh Well.

If you can afford it, good luck beating a well installed SoloX....but they're expensive....but ridiculously loud.

146 dB in their suggested box on only 1200 watts....talk about insane.
