Default in-cabin microfilter

i decided to open up the glovebox and check, and sure enough there's a spot for the microfilter, but there isn't one, just a space filler, aren't tCs supposed to come with filters in them? also where can i pick one up online? i'd rather save money than spending some $60 at the dealer

They are about $24 from the dealer... but most people just make one.

Moved to Interior.

I bought a home depot home a/c filter for 20.00 I can make at least 4 with this filter. It also filters out some smells I didn't buy the actuall charcoal filter.

I use a cut up 3M Filtrete house furnace filter and it works really good! I replaced the first one I installed two weeks ago and I can't belieave how much dirt it caught. The filter was almost black! I also noticed that the interior does not get dusty at all like before I installed the filter.

Yep, they say that it "interferes with cooling system operation". I installed one of the ones mentioned here from home depot with the charcoal layer and it works perfect with NO effect on the cooling. I have been using them since early spring. I can get about 6 out of a $10 filter.

Just for info, Toyota/Scion does not recommend putting a filter in the provided filter drawer in the tC.

Beyond THAT, the filters that fit are exactly they same ones that fit the rest of the Scions:

====
xA/xB CABIN AIR FILTER: Toyota 88568-52010, WIX 24900, DENSO 4531014, Puro C38188, MicronAir TY00166P, Bosch #P3750, Valvoline C38188,
====
Toyota Echo (00-04), RAV4 (01-05), Scion (03-05)
Cabin Air Filter 88568-52010
Style: Air Filter Panel
Service: Cabin Air
Media: Batt/Fiber
Length: 8.504
Width: 7.716
Height: 0.709
====

Check the tech section in the "features" menu near the top of this page to find the topic about making one's own filters to fit the Scion filter drawers...

Tomas, my dealer said that was because of the a/c "lack of cold" issues (there is a tsb) on early tC models. they suggested if i wanted to use a filter, i use a charcoal filter that is less restictive than theirs or the 3M. i found the "web absorber" filter is perfect.
