I see alot photos of sound systems on here and I've noticed one thing...No one seems to have a capacitor mounted anywhere. I had a "Lightning Audio" 1/2 farad capacitor in my Sentra SE-R and helped out alot with the bass response.
Why a lack of them in the xBs? Are they not needed?
Also, for those that do have them, where did you mount it at? I'm going to install one and I'd like it to be hidden, out of sight...

 

Could be that everyone else, in boxes at least, is mounting out of site. A lot of tC have caps in their setups. At least from what I have seen.

 

Does anyone else here know what a capacitor is?...

 

most new amps have big enough caps built in to supply the amp with all the on demand power thay need, makeing the need for a cap obsolete.

 

My 5-channel amp and cap are under my passenger seat.

Actually mine is laying on its side, standing up. If that makes sense.

This was version 1, I now have version 2 installed, which the board extends the whole amp length and is higher towards the seat bottom. V.2 looks waybetter then the first, I should really take some new pics.

 

I got one for my JL 1000/1. I like it needs at least a 1.5

 

I have (2) 5 farad caps in mine. it's overkill but that's fine with me.

Same here I didn't like it anywhere else and it's pretty snug where it is next to the amp.

 

Anyone changed out the alternator instead of a cap? I want to do that instead of a cap since a cap is just a coverup which does not do much for big systems

 

Yeah I actually have both the Iraggi 220A Alternator and a cap for my system ..

 

How much was the alt? Did it fit like the stock?

 

It is a stock replacement, it just weighs a ton and its not cheap If i recall its close to $400.00

ordered an iraggi 200 amp alt to go with a hugh kinetic battery , to power a jl 1000/1 and a 450/4, cant wait to see how it turns out

I have a 5 farad cap for my system in addition to an optima battery and a Iraggi 220A alternator.

 

Just get an Alumapro 5 farad. $320. Works well with the JL amps since they have the regulated power supply.
