Default Changing Audio Settings for Your Car?

Over at the Yahoo Groups Scion discussion, somebody said there is a way to change the stereo's setting to make it specific for your Scion model. They are talking about the pre-2006 head units, they say you press and hold the SSP button for more than three seconds, then adjust to your Scion model by using the volume buttons. I was wondering how to do to this with 2006 head units.

Anyone heard of this and know anything about this on the 2006 head units?

Thanks.

I have a 2006 xB, and if I remember correctly it's very similar to pre-2006's. Hold in the SSP button until the display changes over to whatever the current vehicle setting is (either xA, xB, or tC) and then use the volume **** to change it whatever your vehicle is or whatever you think sounds best.

If that doesn't work, let me know.

I also like the fact you can change what the head unit says when you 1st start your car....I finally got rid of it saying scion!!!

Amazing what boredom and a manual can do for you.

I must confess I did not read the manual enough to notice that you could change the "car setting" on the stereo, and if I did, I probably assumed it was set to xB since I have a xB. Now I wonder precisely what those settings mean. I have noticed that the tC setting sounds "muffled" now in my xB and the xA setting sounds a bit on the "tinny" side, but the xB setting sounds just about right for my ...xB. I don't know enough about audio to say precisely why or what this all is doing. If somebody does, I would appreciate an explanation of precisely what these settings are doing to, and through, the head unit. I assume it has something to do with pumping a unique equalizer type setting through each specific car's speaker set-up??? Thanks.
