Default Cheap DIY Head Unit Upgrade w/ Steering Wheel Controls...

Download and create a CD w/ Eclipse -> Toyota steering wheel controls profile and upload to your CD3000.

So... for a shade over $200 (after shipping costs) you can have a very nice head unit, keep your steering wheel controls, and even have 3 sets of pre-outs when you decide to add an amp, upgrade your speakers, and install that subwoofer.

Also, here's a link to the Eclipse CD3000 manual.

Or...

if the CD3000 doesn't appeal to you... here is a list of all Eclipse head units that support Toyota steering wheel controls!

P.S. I nominate this post for Stickiness

Default HD Radio, Sirius, IPod & Aux Input too!

Add the Eclipse AUX105, and with a little work connecting to the Scion aux input, you can keep that stock as well.

And if you're one of those IPod people, you can get the Eclipse IPod interface!

Oh... and we can't leave out the HD Radio tuner or the Sirius Satellite tuner....

You, sir, are super.

How about a list of all head units from all brands that will work with the factory controls? ;)

Dunno about all the brands and models that can be made to work, but any of the pioneer units from the dehp-4800mp and up will work with a PAC swi-ps interface module... supposedly on some sony units as well... as will the Alpine cda-9857 with a PAC swi-alp interface... not the cda-9856, unfortunately, or I'd have one... supposedly on some Kenwood and JVC units, too...

Nice deal on the eclipse unit... I probably would have bought iit rather than the pioneer I need to install, had I been able to figure out if it would work for sure with the steering wheel controls..

hmm....the only thing that was stopping me from adding a aftermarket cd player was the controls on the steering wheel. Now this changes my mind. For those specs you can beat $169...

I'm confused.

I have an Eclipse CD-8445 and I loaded the Steering Wheel controls a while ago for the hell of it. However, I'm not quite sure what to connect. I've looked at Eclipse's guides and they don't really help too much.

I know the brown and brown/black cables are for the steering wheel controls...but what I don't get is how to connect it to my wire kit. I'm supposed to connect them to pins 8 and 7 respectively...but how does one tell which pin is what?

There's a pic of the plug, here-

http://www.pac-audio.com/swixprogram...ehicles&ID=423

That's specific to the xB, may or may not be different for xA and tC, dunno... but it should be covered on the PAC site...

Sweet link. Okay, so what's the best way to connect the wire directly to the pin?

dunno, WeaponX6X- like I said, my stuff is still in boxes, waiting for a free weekend with decent weather. You may be able to find appropriate terminals, or end up having to cut 'n splice...

Well, this pretty much decides what head unit I will get for my xB. Aftermarket with steering wheel controls that work. That is really cool.

Any pictures of this installed? Actually any pictures of any single-din aftermarket head unit installed? I want to get an idea of how the dash kits look installed.

I hooked up the SWC controls last night and it works great. Now I'm trying to figure out how to get the AUX Input in the center console to work. My hypothesis is it's gonna be two of the wires in the same cable the SWC was.

I'll take some pics...looks great. Although I'm aching for an eq to take place of the extra slot below.

Oh... also... Ikesound is out of the CD3000.

So if you missed out, check the link in the first post in this thread for other units that are compatible. if I come across any Eclipse head units that are directly compatible I'll post 'em here.

Default CD5425 installed

Here's a pic of my Eclipse CD5425 installed, with working steering controls.

I'm using the Scosche SCN2056 and Scosche TA02 for this install.

Very simple and painless install...

Not the best quality picture... taken from my Razr...

FYI about that HDR105 (HD Radio Tuner), it does not support multi-casting. So IMO you shouldn't blow over $400 on it. Hopefully Eclipse will come out with an HD tuner that does support multicasting. I was ready to throw down the cash for one until I found out that it will not get all the HD stations.
