Default Cheapy Ebay Alarms Any Good?

hey. last night i found some punk attempting to break into my car. a mild police interrogation later, this punk kid admitted to scoping out some of the cars in my nieghborhood for his friends to rob blind later. now i have 3 problems. there are a bunch of kids running around breaking into cars, my car doesn't have an alarm, and i'm broke.

i called up some of the local stereo and alarm places and was terrified at the prices for the alarms. pretty much everything was $300.00 and up. so i check out ebay and find some great prices. unfortunately, the brand names are completely unknown to me and i don't know what's crap and what's decent. so my question is are the cheapy alarms on ebay any good? i'm pretty good at installing anything electrical so i can probably handle that on my own. i'm trying to spend under $100.00 as that's all i can afford right now and the only option i want is keyless entry. any help would be appreciated. thanks.

DEI all the way.

You get what you pay for, so keep that in mind.

Even if you do get it cheap from Ebay, you have to worry about installing it. I've never done one personally but I've uninstalled one and they are connected everywhere if done right. It's not something I'd want to tackle without the full wiring schematic of a car and lots of patience.

If you want good advice or a good resource for security - check out the security sense forum at www.sounddomain.com Murph is an installer and can help you with almost anything, but be sure to read the FAQ first.... just like around here.
