Default Check your cabin air filter, you may be suprised

when i bought my 05 XA i was told that the XA comes with an in car cabin air filter, well i was wiring up my amplifier the other day and decided to see how dirty that filter was and to my suprise there was no filter there, just the skeleton cartradge. so i went to scion and asked them if all XAs come standard with those filters and they said only some came with it but no perticular ones. I dont know if this is just me but it doesnt seem right or fair, i have to pay 20 something dolars to put in a filter that should come with my car anyway. im going to call scions big boss today to check on this...ill keep you guys informed

No Scion comes with a cabin air filter from the factory.

It may be that some dealerships install them as part of pre-delivery, but I've never heard of that.

Cut up a house air filter and drop in, much cheaper and better than buying from the delership. Problem solved.

I picked up a AC filter at home depot....it comes with the filter material and a activated carbon insert, even has a stiff plastic mesh I use to keep the filter "sandwhich" together. I was unsure as to where the air enters the filter (from the top or bottom?), so I have it layered like this:
mesh
filter
carbon
carbon
filter

its amazing how much dust on the dash is reduced by having a filter there...... thats where its most noticable.... so if you look at your dash b4 installing one... maybe wipe it down... drive for a week or 2 b4 putting a filter in... then put one in and drive same amount w/o wiping the dash off..... huge difference..... then figure all that stuff on your dash is also all over everything else....

very true. I wold rather have a cabin filter than have to deal with wiping my dash all the time due to dust and other crap in the air.....

It is an Irish phrase. Basically means 'cheers'.

So instead of cutting up a house filter, I just went the easy way. I ordered one from Carson Toyota. I actually ordered the Blitz reusable unit. It was like $60, but then again, theoretically, i'll never have to buy another. I'm such a tool.
